Trey is the exact opposite. Everything Purdy has now Trey needs to learn. On the other hand, everything Trey has like athleticism and a strong arm can't be learned. Trey has a lot of room for impriovement where Brock might be about as good as he will ever be. That looks good right now but only time will tell if he can continue it.
pfft....Brock has the brain plasticity of a 23yo so he has plenty of room to improve. it's not like he's some 30yo dude.
How much better can his pocket awareness get? How much better can he get at finding open receivers? I'm not saying he can't improve. I'm just saying that Trey has much more room to improve since he's quite a ways behind right now. Trey looks like a rookie. Purdy looks like a guy that's been in the league for 2-3 years.
There is always room for improvement. He's a rookie after all, even if he's playing like a vet. Just because Trey has more room to improved due to the fact he's starting from scratch doesn't really say much.
It is like false economy isn't it? Yeah Purdy will improve only a little bit compared to Lance. In reality Purdy is already high on the scale but Lance is much lower. So if Lance improves a massive 50% and Purdy only improves 20% the end result would still be that Purdy is a better QB. If Lance improves 50% he still would not be as good as Jimmy G for a few years. Catchmaster's argument is not the best I have heard on here. But it is a good argument for a Lanceling. (irony)
Your improvement numbers are arbitrary. None of us knows how much Lance will improve or if Purdy will continue to play this well. Trey may only improve a little but he could make huge strides if he gets enough reps. You can't deny that we've seen many QBs have a few good starts and then begin to have problems. It's also just as common to see a young QB struggle for a year or even two before the light goes on. If Purdy continues to play at his current level and even improves some, then it will be hard for Trey to get the reps he needs. Kyle was willing to give him those reps thus t]years since he had decided to move on from an injured JG. Different story next year.
Two years from now we could have one good QB, two good QBs or none. The future is always an unknown. Just like the people that try to predict scores every week, nobody can predict how good a player will be in 2 years. We like to assume that he will improve but unfortunately that doesn't always happen. Things happen that nobody has control over. Things like injuries can set back a players progress. We saw it with Jimmy and we've seen it with Trey already.
I hope we end up with 2 good players that can guide the team when called upon. That would be ideal to have 2 young QBs that can play. Unfortunately one would probably leave for free agency or get traded. This is 2022 and QB depth is just a fantasy because of the cap and free agency.
