My guy, there is nothing wrong with Purdy playing out his rookie deal then tagging him instead of giving the kid 60m per year.

That would be the best thing to do wouldn't you agree?

No. He's a franchise QB and we're not going to draft high enough to find someone better. Pay him now and hopefully he takes a team friendly deal.

His play this year has raised an eyebrow for me, because while at times I feel he's better, his accuracy and reads are just off a bit on many plays. I attribute that to constant pressure and blocking gaffes getting in his head.

The tag idea isn't a bad idea, but I think they get a deal done as you said.

I saw articles calling him an elite backup. I live in NYC and half my friends said they would take him in a heartbeat lol Daniel Jones is s**t show etc... lol so many insane takes in the media.
Every QB has had game or 2 where they had a slump. Including the greats.

More inconsistent than we are used to seeing for sure. He was good, but still off in the first half imo. Some of those completions and incompletes just didnt look rigth. He seemed flustered/lost. Then the second half he came out looking more like the guy we are used to seeing.

I think better pass pro makes him a top 10 qb easily, and more likely top 5. Last night the o line was better than they have been and it reflects. For me that relationship is all symbiotic, especially for a QB like Brock.

For sure. I just wish Shanylynch thought the same way when resourcing the OL. A stronger OL vs hands on balls.
In Brocks defense, he's not had much help from his receivers or OL this season

That being said, he still needs to be more accurate and make better decisions with the ball. That throw towards the end that almost got picked off was dumb and could have changed the outcome of the game. I actually thought we should have ran It on that particular play Tbh. 3rd n 1 and you throw it?

Endzond terrible because he isn't good at window throws

He has wheels which make him serviceable

But top 10 no way easy to come up with 10 names better than him

For me

Darnold better
Love better
Goff better
Stafford better
Hurts better little
Cousins better
Mayfield better
Mahomes obvious
Herbert better
Allen better
Dak probably better seems better downfield
I'd put him 15 which is my belief avg won't win you games when you need him to

LOL

For real lol

he had a shaky first half but to say Brock isn't good at window throws is dumb. His accuracy heading into this season has been one of his best attributes. Other being his anticipation.

here's a window throw in the second half after he got going.

posters are starting to go overboard with their criticism of Brock.

Agreed! Use the run game and short passing game to open up down field. I feel like teams have been stacking boxes, so we do the "take what they give you" and try throwing the ball deep, but with our terrible pass blocking, that hasn't been clicking, so our offense looks terrible. I was happy to see them running some screens and short passes again last night. Brock has the skills to operate, but he needs way more help from the o-line
Brock has things to continue to improve upon, but he's no where near the "problem".

wait until CMC is back - you'll see a completely different offense. Similar to last year. IMO.
Brock played out of his skin in the 3rd quarter v Dallas

But the rest of the Dalas game and also the Kansas game, he was well below par.
Calling him an elite backup is chicken feces. Whoever said that should come forth and show themselves if the would have any accountability. That stuff is cheap. He is better than half the current starters and everyone of us yapping on the zone. If he gets blamed for losses then he gets credit for last nights win. Without CMC, JJ, Deebo mostly and rooks everywhere. PYMWYMI.

He still only played 1 really good quarter of football though.

So, while we acknowledge that, we can still examine his frailties.

Credit to him for working out that his running game is better than most.

But his red zone passing needs a lot of improvement.

Purdy was EXCELLENT in the redzone in 2023. Do you think he just forgot how to play in the redzone this season? Or, just maybe, are there reasons why he hasnt been as good this year?
