Um yes you do get paid on what you have done in your rookie contract or previous contract. Which is why players holdout. Tell me, did you think Aiyuk got paid for this season or what he did the two previous seasons? Did Trent Williams, CMC and Nick Bosa holdout for what they were gonna do or did they holdout for what they did?
You don't make sense bro.
To be fair, your post implied that he had done enough in 1.5 seasons to deserve that big money deal… almost as if what happens this season doesn't matter.
He can play himself out of that kind of contract this year, and possibly next depending on what happens this offseason.
He has done enough and even with the way he has played this season he still deserves it. Do you expect Brock to all of a sudden turn into Ryan Leaf anytime soon? Brock is on pace for another 4,000 yard season. And if all these other QB's who haven't done s**t in the playoffs got paid then no question Brock Purdy has earned it!!!
You get paid for potential performance, not prior performance. Obviously. It's the entire reason dudes hold out for guaranteed money… they know an injury diminishes their future potential.
So how do teams pay their players coming off rookie contract? Is it the potential they have shown from PRIOR PERFORMANCE? Or do teams disregard what they've done in previous years and just say oh yah he can play, he looks the part, laser rocket arm, pay him? Lol
Yes prior performance matters. But the bolded above, a statement you made to support your argument, is just plain silly.
aiyuk got his contract based off what the team thought his value would be over the period of the contract. His previous level of play is one factor to consider, as is his age, his coach ability, his raw talent etc etc. "we were thinking you were worth $25million, but you played so well last season, we'll give you $30"…. That's not a thing
and it won't be a thing for purdy. He'll get the contract they think he'll be worth next year and beyond, and they'll use the last couple years as data to pull from.
edit: I don't think you're dumb. I think we're probably saying the same thing but differently
Lol more contradiction. You sit here disagreeing with me to the fullest then tell me "Prior performance does matter". Lmfao
👍🏻.
irrelevant conclusion. If you re-read, slowly, youll probably be able to decipher what I wrote plainly.
but, like I said, it doesn't matter and I'm prepared to move on
