Purdy did have one terrible game and one sub-par one, but otherwise has been solid at minimum, to great.

I think both guys are fighting poor IOL play but I feel like Purdy is the more complete player right now.

Purdy's issues have really been mindset based. He wants to be aggressive, but sometimes just needs to keep it simple.

He has done well to run when he can, but now he needs to learn to be more consistent in two other situational areas. 1) know when to eat it and take the sack, and 2) take the gimmes underneath when the big play just isn't really there.

It could be that he doesn't feel like talking about football and players after losses. Wouldn't be unique.

I find it unique since I read a lot of 'Brock Brees' and other similar type nonsense from some of these people when he has a good game. Brock Purdy is a solid QB - very arguably a top 10 player at the position. He is not on a Drew Brees level....but I'm sure I'll see his name, Joe Montana, Brady, etc. etc. comparisons soon enough again.

He is easily top 10 lol, arguably top 5. Brock has had one of the best starts to any career. Of course his fanbase will be excited and compare him to the greats. Then there's fans like you that seem pissed off at he idea of Brock continuing on his (so far) HOF path. Wtf is wrong with you lol

So it's either you think Purdy is Brees....or I'm pissed off about.....something......

No. I'll stay in the lane of the sane, and realize Purdy for what he truly is - a top 10 type QB who might be able to elevate his game even further.

The potential is there, so why not have fun? Look at Brees and Brady in year 3. They were top 10 types with potential. You would be downplaying them (especially Brady) after year 3

He got a little wild at Iowa State. That's why he dropped. At one time during his Sophomore year he was thought of as a 2nd round pick. For the next year. He started playing wild and dropped in the draft. That and he's not a combine guy. Except for the 10 yard split. Which you can measure. But those 2 things dropped him.

That's not my idea of fun, considering if you take that opinion to a general football forum, you'd be laughed off the site. No thanks. I'll just look at it from a practical pov, hope that Purdy keeps improving and helps lead SF to a SB title someday.

There was a time when you'd be laughed off those forums for saying Purdy > Fields. I got laughed at last year for saying Purdy > Stroud. Now people are coming around to it being a possibility

When your horse has a shot, you roll with it till it's dead. Otherwise our next Montana is just going to be the QB that proved you wrong. You won't really get to enjoy the next great with the attitude you have

Justin Fields and CJ Stroud are a looonng way away from Drew Brees.....and to say I won't get to enjoy the next great is ludicrous. Did I have to claim Joe Montana was the next Unitas back in 1980 to 'enjoy the ride?' Of course not.

You can say he'll be the next Montana, Rice, Lott, etc. etc. to every player and sooner or later....you'll hit on someone. But you look like a fool 99% of the time.

Nobody actually thinks he's as good as year 10 Brees. They're just having fun. It's about the potential. The fact that it makes you mad says everything

All I'm saying is who cares what other fanbases think? They've been wrong the entire way, and you seem to be right there with them so far

Make me mad? Hardly....I laugh at the people who make these comps. Go have 'fun' looking like an idiot 99% of the time.

Compare year 2 Brees and year 2 Purdy.

Then year 3 Brees and year 3 Purdy.

Let me know what you find there.

Yes...lets compare players who are in two totally different situations and specifically eras when it comes to passing the football.

It's not 99% of the time. You don't just go around saying guys like Trey Lance and Javon Kinlaw are going to be great. It's the guys that actually show potential that you're supposed to ride as a fan

Packers Texans and Redskin fans are all in on their QBs right now. Nobody is going to look at them like idiots if those guys don't workout. They are doing what normal fans do

The only way you look like an idiot is if you ride him too long when he clearly has shown what he is (Jimmy G situation) or being you and getting proven wrong by the qb you were supposed to be rooting for. Otherwise it's okay to enjoy the moment
