Packers Texans and Redskin fans are all in on their QBs right now. Nobody is going to look at them like idiots if those guys don't workout. They are doing what normal fans do

The only way you look like an idiot is if you ride him too long when he clearly has shown what he is (Jimmy G situation) or being you and getting proven wrong by the qb you were supposed to be rooting for. Otherwise it's okay to enjoy the moment

Yes. It is. To be high on your own QB is one thing - I am glad to have someone like Purdy. But any comparison between Brock Purdy and Drew Brees at this time makes you look like a football idiot.

Yes...lets compare players who are in two totally different situations and specifically eras when it comes to passing the football.

Compare him to drew brees new Orleans y1/2/3/etc. this is well after the NFL adjusted rules for passers and brees was a 5 year vet. I think you will find purdy still compares favorably

Well for your own sake I hope you're right, otherwise you won't truly be able to enjoy the teams success with Brock. It will just make you look like a football idiot

You mean, the Drew Brees that was leading the NFL in yards, completions, attempts, TD's? The guy who was THE focal point of the Saints offense, and still couldn't be stopped? The running game is the primary driver of today's 49er offense....but some people want to compare Purdy to THAT?

And as for how the game was similar regarding passing rules - there were only 5 QB's that had 100+ QB rating the first three years in Brees' career in NO. There was 6 of them in 2022 alone, another 6 last year (including Purdy) and probably another 6 or so on pace this year. It really isn't the same.

The comparison is stupid. Stop it.
Brock Brees

Oh man. Don't think he's saying Brock is Drew yet. It's a pretty clear fact though that young Brock has been a lot better than young Drew was in San Diego his first 3 years.

We don't know what Purdy will look like in 2-3 more years. But based on the major jump you see from a lot of guys at that 5-6 year mark, I wouldn't be surprised if he was doing quite well. Especially if we improve the OL.

Drew certainly had some pro bowl and all pro beasts on OL, and some great weapons in Deuce McCallister, pro bowler Joe Horn, Colston (1000+ in 6 of his first 7 seasons), pro bowl TE Jeremy Shockey, hall of fame TE Jimmy Graham, Sproles, etc.

Brees' line in his Super Bowl year consisted of Bushrod, Nicks, Evans, Goodwin, and Stinchcomb. Every one of them was a pro bowler in their career, and three were all pros in their career -- Evans is a future hall of famer.

My opinion is.. the OL is what helped Drew the most when he entered his prime. For us, that's what Brock needs going forward if he's gonna be great. OL over weapons. Yes, have some, but make that sacrifice. Trent can't do it all himself. Even with Puni it's not enough.

Uhhhh I mean go look at brees' first year as saints starter vs purdys first year as niners starter. Again I say: he compares very favorably.

Better rating, better TD/int ratio, more wins (actually led his team to playoffs, unlike brees), better in basically any advanced metric you want to compare.

What exactly are you so offended by in the comparison? The only argument you can make is "yeah.... Well .... Purdy has a good team around him". And I guess it's a hypothetical you can discuss but blowing a gasket over a comparison of what DID happen is kind of an odd position to take

I hope we come out of the bye hungry and healthy, ready to make a point.

Will always love for some of the best 49ers football I have seen. Came out like a bull out of the gate and kicked ass.

Watching Stroud, I just dnt understand the hype of this guy. Not better than Purdy at all really.

I think stroud is a very good young player but I do think people place him too high right now. He's a good player but his inexperience is very evident, imo. I'd take Purdy over him in a heart beat but I think stroud has a bright future.

Better than Tom Brady and Peyton Manning during that time as well. Better than Pat Mahomes in today's era......you may not grasp this, but you're making my argument for me. Thanks.

PS Brees did lead his team to the playoffs in his first year as a Saint - they lost in the NFCCG against Chicago.

I agree with this....IF you have the QB that transcends the position. That's what makes Mahomes who he is....well that...and a lot of cooking by the refs and Goodell, but that's beside the point. At this juncture, nobody can say with any fact that Purdy is THAT guy, given many factors including the offense he is piloting.....and we may never see it consistently.
