You mean, the Drew Brees that was leading the NFL in yards, completions, attempts, TD's? The guy who was THE focal point of the Saints offense, and still couldn't be stopped? The running game is the primary driver of today's 49er offense....but some people want to compare Purdy to THAT?

And as for how the game was similar regarding passing rules - there were only 5 QB's that had 100+ QB rating the first three years in Brees' career in NO. There was 6 of them in 2022 alone, another 6 last year (including Purdy) and probably another 6 or so on pace this year. It really isn't the same.

The comparison is stupid. Stop it.

I begged them to stop over the Summer,...lol.

Good news is that Purdy is still Purdy.

I'm interested in those replies. Hopefully people stepped up and defended our Lord and Savior.

But when did we say Brock was elite. He's certainly not Lamar or Burrow, but he's pretty good. People make up stuff in their head

How many QB's are Lamar or Burrow other than Mahomes? It makes me feel good though knowing Brock is in everyones head in the social media world and the talking heads.

Yeah - what's compelling them to think about and post about Brock Purdy about the results of an AFC North battle? Could it also be that when the Ravens and Bengals play the defenses don't show up? 17 td passes and just 1 int between Burrow and Jackson in their two games against each other this year so far.

Burrow is not on Lamar's level but he's playing at a super high level right now.

The thing is people overreact to stuff like yesterday's game. Burrow was the #1 overall pick so he gets hyped for a good reason. He's also done a lot of great things in key moments so he gets the hype for good reason again.

But really Burrow's game isn't all that different from Brock. His arm is may a bit better but it's not on the level of Mahomes, Allen or Lamar. But fans see a big game like that with lots of back and forth scoring and act like that's what makes elite play. It's great for sure but I think you can tell more about top QBs when they're playing good defense and how they handle adversity.

Nick Foles went toe to toe with Tom Brady in a SB, you can argue he outplayed him. Did anyone call him elite?

Brock is never going to be on the level of those uber athletes who can also process the game at a high level. However that's not the only way to be an elite QB. If Brock continues to improve and make the smart decisions and make good throws there to be made or just limit the bad until the good is available he'll be exactly what we need to win SBs.

It's not really about the better arm. Take their mobility away and Burrow is easily a better qb even though jackson arm is more live. Jackson's threat to run is really what puts defenses in a bind. Now with Henry back there it's even harder. The problem for Lamar is that defense in the playoffs that's able to contain him. He's not a passer like Burrow when that happens

Even if we assume that is the case (not really that I agree or disagree). Just for the sake of argument. It's like saying he is top 10 instead of top 3. So you have Mahomes, Burrow, Lamar, Allen and who else? Maybe he's outside the top 5. Most of that is based on physical ability. His physical ability is fine but not all world. Where he excels is the processing. As Steve Young says. So maybe he is 7th or 10th or whatever. But that's far from terrible. Good enough to even win with. He's light years better than where he was picked and even what some of the media gives him credit for. That much is true.

Lamar is phenomenal at running. That run he made was amazing. But I don't think he's that accurate. Burrow is 6'4", underrated athletic, throws darts all over the field, can throw deep with accuracy. He was worth the #1 pick. Montana even says he likes watching him.

A player doesn't need to be the best at his position to be good enough to make an impact. If that was the case then 90% of the players would be worthless.

lol. Lamar is damn near 70% completions this season with lesser WRs. just stop.

He misses a lot if you watch the games. Some are short to medium range. He's not the dart thrower that Burrow is IMO. Burrow looks like a machine to me. His accuracy is crazy and repetitive. Not to say Lamar never throws an accurate pass. But I'm more impressed with his running. Which is his true super power. He has some as low as 58% completion in his career and lots of years in the 60% something ranges.

There are other factors involved. Because he's so blazing fast with good moves you have a spy or 2 who cheat up to the line of scrimmage. This opens things up hugely. Some of his guys are WIDE OPEN. Especially by the endzone. I think it's one reason he's so good by the redzone. People complain about Purdy having open guys. LOL. Nobody is more open than the Ravens. In part because of his running threat. Especially down close. They eyeball test says Burrow throws darts all over. The ball placement is phenomenal. I don't think Lamar is horrible. Just not up to that level. If you took his running away I don't think he has as many open guys. Which is a big part of his success.

I agree with that for sure.

Good news is that Purdy is still Purdy.

Clearly they just kept one-upping their own nonsense. I want Purdy to keep improving to where he's thought of as the best QB in the division, and go from there.

At least I got a good laugh....'better than Mahomes'.....'reminds me of Brees'.....it's like talking musical talent to a swifty.

Find one quote where somebody said he's better than Mahomes

Not "playing better than Mahomes"

Not "better stats than Mahomes"

Find one post that says "Brock is better than Mahomes"

And he reminds Snead of Brees too so idk why you think that's so crazy

Nobody said he's better than Mahomes. But he is like a YOUNG BREES. In fact better so far. If you are looking at the first 3 years. The really prolific years came later for Brees. They were not in the first 3 years. He's a very good QB. Where he fits is debatable. But he's better than what we had around here for 20+ years. So just be happy about it.
