Here's an interesting comparison:

Jimmy Garoppolo in his last eight games before CMC arrived:

5-3 W/L, 68% cmp rate, 2,026 yds, 10 td, 7 int

Purdy in his eight games so far this year (without CMC obviously):

4-4 W/L, 65% cmp rate, 2,101 yds, 10 td, 7 int

Albeit - Purdy has done way more damage with his legs than Jimmy G.

No comparison at all. CMC is not the only thing happening. This is the once every 15 years nightmare year. Where your whole team is injured. Purdy is more accurate his entire career. He can throw down the field. He's a better runner. He can buy time and play off schedule. Just better in every way. There is no comparison to Jimmy G who is helpless by comparison.

Huh? I think last year was a once in every 15 year scenario in which the team was healthy. Most definitely injured more often than not.

Yeah you could look at it like that too if you want to flip the coin over to the other side. There is some validity to that.

I love purdy, but there is certainly justification to compare Jimmy to purdy this year. To suggest otherwise does nothing but expose bias.

purdy has looked very Jimmy-esque at times this year.

No he's better than Jimmy by far. We are more injured than normal. That accounts for most. But even the Rams game for example. He played outstanding. Even throwing dimes down the field. That stupid idiots drop (Bell). Even TD's to Jennings. He was outstanding. We lost for other reasons. Defensive collapse and dropped passes. He's way better throwing down the field than Jimmy.

If you want to play W - L record look at Burrow's record this year. Then get back to me.....

I agree wholeheartedly Brock is much better than Jimmy. I'm simply saying to disregard the comparisons is silly. Was it against Dallas he rolled right and threw the tip almost pick-6. If you didn't know it was purdy you'd have thought it was Jimmy.

The comparison is legit. And why wouldn't it be? Same system, same coach etc. purdy is better, but his performance this year has been jimmy-esque at times

I mean if you want to throw in Jimmy G. with CMC we're talking, in the 5 games he played (not counting the game against Miami when he was injured early), 245 yds per game average, 9 tds, and just 1 int.
Brock is better than Jimmy for sure, but he's had a few too many jimmy-type INTs and inaccurate throws this year (which he didn't have many of last year).

Oh well, it's all outside of our control!

just cause of that one play?

Jimmy doesn't throw to the outside and s**ts his pants everytime when his first read is covered.

if Jimmy was playing for us this year we might be winless

He could've won that game against the Rams too if he threw that deep ball to Aiyuk to seal the game. Instead he just stared him down

Come on man. You can't blame that game on him. So many parts of the 49ers in total collapse. He played super well. That game especially is not on him. The biggest Purdy hater in the world couldn't seriously blame him for the Rams game. Aiyuk was a SLUG the whole season. Playing super sub par. So I'm not surprised he was not trusted this year. That play has been gone over 1 million times on the WZ. He didn't see the safety, lost track of the safety and therefore didn't throw the ball. Which is the correct thing to do. Got to be 10 glaring mistakes on defense, special teams, dropped balls that weren't on Purdy in that game. Obsessing on that play is expecting Purdy to be perfect. Rodgers, Mahomes and Burrow aren't perfect. Occasionally they miss a read. It happens if you watch the games. He did enough. The other aspects of the 49ers collapsed in that game. Much more so than Purdy.
