When a RB is supposed to chip block, thats the risk you are running. I dont think a CMC chip block would have been much different than that.
That's the problem that JD was pointing out: it's not a chip block. He's supposed to stay in and block, not release.
And how does he know that?
Probably by the play and Trent's reaction confirming it.
I don't think we can for certain know exactly what Endo was suppose to do....but the strongest conformation is Trent's reaction.
We have seen Trent be protective of the young guys in the past (thinking Brock here), that reaction probably confirms the Endo did not do what he is suppose to do.
We know, Endo want's to do what is in the best interest of the team, I am guessing he got confused on when or if he was suppose to release into the passing rout.
Probably a mistake, maybe even Endo got greedy watching CMC doing his thing in the passing game and wanted to show off that he can do some of that too, so a mistake with a motive... IDK
I feel kind of bad since I have spent the last...what? 3? 4? months bragging about Endo as a pass blocker, and we now have several poor showings as a pass protector. I am disappointed , I still think he can be great at it...but he has be way more consistent in making the right choices down to down.
