....exactly how much would you be willing to pay him?

Let him play out his rookie deal then tag him. If a contract becomes necessary probably 40m-45m per year seems fair to both side.

You get up to 60mil per year then someone needs to be fired.

And Purdy won't be playing
How many tipped/deflected into the air interceptions has Brock thrown this season?

At some point it's on him to STOP putting balls in harms way. He's got to stop throwing to receivers that are not even remotely open.

Not my money if they can pay Brock and still carry a good roster then....
We have a s**t ton of money sitting on IR. Point being, we could easily afford Purdy with the roster we currently put on the field.

i personally don't think he's worth setting the market with, but if that's what it would take to resign him I'd be inclined to figure it out.

Well, I, for one, would have never paid Dak 60 million $. I wouldn't have paid Tua or Trevor Lawrence 50 million + $ either. Imo, the only QBs who deserve 60 million $ are Allen, Burrow and Mahomes. Imo, 40 - 45 million $ for Purdy per year seems fair.

I'm more in line with this thinking except I believe that Lamar is firmly in that Mahomes, Allen, Burrow tier as well.

Projected franchise tag for 2025 for QB's is $42M. 2024 it's $38M. So for 2026 after Purdy's rookie contract expires, it'll be $46M-$48M. Like I said, we'd be LUCKY if he agreed to $50M.

Since many of you don't want to pay him that, do you suggest we just let him walk? What's your plan at QB after next season?

What you consider fair and what the market is are not even close to being in line. I agree with you. I wouldnt have wanted to pay those guys either. But Brock is indisputably better than Tua or Lawrence, and arguably better than Dak (I think he is better than Dak, but the general public might not).

Okay so you tag him for $46M, fully guaranteed and all of it against the salary cap for 2026. Makes signing anyone else that much more difficult. He plays the same or maybe slightly better than what he's been averaging - then what? Tag him again for $52M? The price will keep going up each year. Or we can secure him for 4-6 years at an average that will be very workable over the life of the contract. Can restructure later if necessary.

And if I'm Purdy, no way am I playing under the franchise tag. Just trade me. He's already earned his next contract based on his previous play and taking the team to two NFCCG's and a Super Bowl.

Purdy will play under the tag..

but if we do sign him long term and he has another year like this.. our offense will be stagnant again.. then everyone will be happy about the big signing

yeah tag seems really dumb. no team in football is doing that, except the old Washington back with Snyder and he wasn't too bright.
