Or we can secure him for 4-6 years at an average that will be very workable over the life of the contract. Can restructure later if necessary.

And if I'm Purdy, no way am I playing under the franchise tag. Just trade me. He's already earned his next contract based on his previous play and taking the team to two NFCCG's and a Super Bowl.

Again, we could give him the non-exclusive tag and let him test the market.

Highly doubt he's getting a top of the market offer in free agency, at least at this point.
On another team that needs a QB, Purdy will get about 10 points each game for that team. Tipped throws, inaccurate passes, etc etc.

Since many of you don't want to pay him that, do you suggest we just let him walk? What's your plan at QB after next season?
tagging him is an option

Purdy will play under the tag..

but if we do sign him long term and he has another year like this.. our offense will be stagnant again.. then everyone will be happy about the big signing

Not if we get rid of fat Deebo and add a route running WR. Plus Aiyuk back. And draft a pass catching TE and C who can actually not get blown backwards on every pass play. Offensive roster needs some tweaks to fit Purdy's skillset.

Deebo is not the main issue, nor JJ nor Ricky.. Purdy is just waiting a little longer than usual.. and Purdy isn't the main issue, but it would help if he could be the Purdy of 22 and 23

Fat Deebo? Lol didn't he lose a chunk of weight? When he is good, he is pretty good. When he is a bit off..not so good.

fat deebo rings true to these eyes. he gets on the end around and he's huffing and puffing and going out of bounds for no gain

Have you people still not learned that every player on the team is going to get injured?

There are two types of 49er players: Players on Injured Reserve, and players who are going to be on injured reserve.

The Lenoir signing was stupid for this reason.

The only player you would sign long-term is the QB, since it's so important.

The question to ask is whether or not Brock's the guy, not nitpicking over how much he makes. I don't care if it takes $100 million per year. If he's the guy, you pay him.

No other player should ever be signed to a long-term contract. They are going to get injured. Only Kyle and fans don't realize this.

Not to mention, the other players are vastly overrated. The current game is all about scheme and the QBs running the scheme. That's basically it.

I'm not saying other players can't slightly enhance things, but it's nowhere near as important as people think.

No skill guys are carrying QBs to anything. Unless you go back to Randy Moss, that's just not how it works. The SYSTEM - the scheme and play calling - is what makes or breaks units.

Jimmy Garoppolo had his best games playing with Marquis Goodwin, Kendrick Bourne, Trent Taylor, Aldrick Robinson, Garrett Celek, and a rookie George Kittle, as well as Carlos Hyde.

Defense is also about scheme. The 49ers have had a million different corners, many of them seemingly no names, and they've always been good as a cover unit. Safeties these days just have to know the scheme and not be out of position.

He lost weight before the season. Clearly he's gaining weight during the season and is not as fast nor as explosive as he used to be. Plus he's never been a good route runner who get separation vs. man coverage.

idk if he's gained weight since the season started, but one thing for sure is he lost weight when he got sick and he's wearing a flak jacket for his ribs
