Brock is a system guy. He's not gonna thrive when the system is faltering, and it's faltering due to many factors, from OL to WR to defensive schemes having adjusted and SF basically needing an offseason to regroup and adjust back. The offensive install should be rather different next year to counter the way defenses are playing them. But that's down the road.

If you want your QB to put the team on his shoulders week to week and muscle his team to a win that's just not Brock. He's a pocket system passer, and a damn good one, when he's on, but he's just not a guy who's gonna improv his way to Ws.

If Darnold was an upgrade, he would've shown it in camp.

by that logic if purdy was an upgrade he would have shown it. he was not even dressing. it took 2 injuries for brock to play.

Two different situations.

the thruline is the depth chart wasn't decided by camp competition in both. trey was simply deemed QB1 due to draft investment. brock earned it and got healthy and his job back. in both cases no real comp. the comp was darnold and lance, and darnold won big. presumably even b allen beat lance.

Purdy just isn't that good.

Don't pay Brock.

Maybe an incentive laden contract where if he doesn't perform he doesn't get paid big $, but he is not a 60million/year guy not even a 20 million/year guy

And in 2023 Brock was clearly the better player, so they chose correctly. Darnold, when he did play, did okay, buy not anywhere as good as Brock did.

that faltering is due to hesitancy. so many plays are there this year and he had guys open and just didn't want to throw it.

once he pulled the ball back the first time when he had two open guys in front of him, i knew the game was over...

it's happening for sure. they are pot committed. Brock has the locker room and years in the O now. they have no other QB on roster as a serious option.

i'll put it this way, they spent 3 ones on lance to move off jimmy. they are scared of being without a QB.

I love Brock.. But I'm in no way, on this earth paying him top dollar. He's good with shades of average. Bum shoulder, bum elbow. It would be malpractice to pay him top of the market qb money.

Maybe we should draft another quarterback in the first round of the 2025 draft.

i'm talking about the org, which is lynch and shanny. they can't move off brock without going headlong into the unknown. they dont want to do that. QB is gonna cost picks or dollars if it's brock or anyone else. lynch and shanny are both big on brock.
