I want my franchise QB to win no matter who is out there. That is why he gets the big bucks right?? IMO a franchise QB should be winning 10-11 games each year just based on his skill alone.

So Joe Burrow is not a franchise QB?
Just draft another Purdy in the 7th round

as a thought experiment, how would we play if we just plugged in daniel jones. we probably could have just plugged in darnold and done very well, like Minny is doing now. but that just kicks the can, cuz now darnold will get paid by someone. you have to pay someone eventually. unless you always go on the rook deal, but that is chaos. eventually you get a non functional rook. we got one at pick 3. most rooks play like that. so i don't see any way around having to pay a QB, if you want consistent good QB play. it's a shutting of the window probably that we didn't get it over the line on the cheap QB1 situation.

So Joe Burrow is not a franchise QB?

Joe Burrow has 30 TDs and 5 INTs with a 107 QB rating and will probably finish with his best numbers of his career. Cincy currently has the #9 offense and #27 defense. Burrow just lost a game 38-44 where he had 112 QB rating and 3 TDs. There are always weird seasons. Prior to this year in 16 games seasons he went 10-6 and 12-4
Purdy can't even grip a football in the cold. Maybe this is why he fell to the last pick.

This is a big red flag if they're thinking of paying him Josh Allen money.
Brock is agood player that has shown he can perform under the right conditions. He's not special. Not generational. Those guys just don't come along often. They thought they might be getting someone special with Lance but that was a total failure. Sometimesyou have to take a chance to get those special guys. Reid moved up to get Mahomes when 9 teams passed him by. The Bills took a chance on Josh Allen even though he came from a small time program because they saw the size and athleticism and hoped he could become a good QB. He 's had his ups anddowns but he now seems to have it figured out.

These 2 guys are at the top ofthe heap along with Lamar Jackson who was also somewhat of a question mark.

But now? No...to me, either a QB has got the potential to be a franchise qb or he does not. That should be determined within the first 2-3 years, not after 5-10. in despite of the first two years I don't see a franchise qb in him (anymore) , he doesn't have the mindset for that.

WHAT?

His mental focus is his strongest point. Everyone on the team comments about his focus and mental toughness. His biggest problem is the five guys that squat in front of him on every play...along with injuries on the receiving core.
It's not all Brock, but he's also making it harder on himself by hesitating.

his time to throw was the highest in the league, haven't checked since GB but he's had time. A lot more time that the last two years. It's not all on the OL

A large part of his hesitation is the lack of his go-to guys, CMC and BA, on the field. It seems Kittle has been used to block more this year than last.

Would Brock be the MVP front runner if not for the defense?

yeah he doesn't have big hands or strong grip. you don't get to construct your QB in the lab. you have to take what you get. i don't think it's a deal breaker. generally in big time conditions like last night you are running the ball anyway. that's what works in those conditions. i do think it's important to be honest about who he is going into contract time. too much puffery of him being brady, brees, montana, yet folks want to pay him $10 a year or something. let's get real on his game and on his contract. he has good game, and it will be a massive deal, as the latest guy to sign gets the dollars.

What does that have to do with burrow and not winning double digit games every year? Which you said is a must

I think it's way too early to determine any kind of ceiling on Purdy. He's 24, he has 36 regular season starts.

Also Josh Allen is one of the biggest outliers in NFL draft history. Numerous GMs will get fired chasing that unicorn and using high draft picks on physically super talented QBs that struggled with their accuracy because most of the time they will not pan out.

And in the 49ers case, taking a chance on something "special" cost them three first round picks. In many cases that's a fireable offense.

Why cant you answer the question?
Isnt it quite obvious to everyone who's been following this team for longer than 10 years that we as a fanbase and a franchise tend to really over value our players?

Alex Smith, Jimmy G, and now Brock. I'd be happy if they didn't pay him at all and just let him play out his contract. Do I think the Niners will do that? Nope. I'd bet we give him 60 million plus and next season is a bigger S show than this one. Cause then it wouldn't be a QB that's making Pennie's on the dollar playing
mid level football. It will be a QB being paid like a franchise QB playing average to below average football. It's so easy to see how this is gonna turn out.
