We overpaid Jimmy.
You guys like to directly correlate team success to QB contract worth. It doesn't quite work like that exactly.

If he is like Jimmy then we need to cut ties now...lol.
He's not like Jimmy.
And he will get a contract offer to be paid handsomely....though I dont think it's going to be close to the highest paid QB in the league, just based on where we are at.
I dont think he demands that type of money right now. Would love some info here that is contradictory and is not based solely on emotion, though?
There should be room for some middle ground here. Let's try it.

People are saying a number without anything behind it. I saw someone claim it was going to be 70 the other day...just keeps going up without any rhyme or reason.
The simple fact is we don't know what Brock will shoot for. He's got every right to demand a top flight deal because he understands he's done a lot for this team for very little compensation. He's getting less than his backups. He saved this regime from one of the worst mistakes a group can make with the Trey Lance move - a move that in hindsight killed our depth and made us this top heavy.
However Brock is a pretty humble dude who has always talked about how he can do good things if he's surrounded by good players, which leads me to believe he wouldn't try to handicap the team where they cannot field a good team around him.
I think it's pointless throwing numbers around and I believe a team friendly deal will happen this offseason and it will be one that allows us to compete. Obviously moving forward unless we keep knocking the draft out of the park where we can find gems left and right we need to make peace with the fact that our roster won't be as top heavy as it was last year.
However for now we still have a great group to build around. If you look at KC their building blocks for all 3 SB wins have been just 3 guys - Mahomes, Kelce and Chris Jones. Obviously these guys are HOF level players so that's a damn good building block but while the 49ers aren't on that level. Purdy, Aiyuk, Bosa, Warner and Lenoir are a pretty solid group to build around. I'd love to add some of the guys from this last rookie class as it looks good on paper but too early to do that IMO.
Either way I think Purdy is someone who gives us a legit shot to compete as long as we don't start drafting like we did in 2022-2023.

You can win with Jimmy/Brock... You just cant win if your are playing KC in the Superbowl.

Pretty sure 32 of 32 teams would take Brock over Dak

Well, to add, I think Creed Humphrey is a future Hof IOL. But agree with the rest.

Aiyuk is going to be a question mark. He tore 2 ligaments and that makes his recovery more difficult. He didn't have blazing speed to begin with so any loss of speed will really hurt. I don't think he was a game changer even before he was injured.

Those saying he is just like Jimmy, dude, this guy processes so much better than G could ever dream about. I have waited a long time for this qb! We will get our s**t together but the season is definitely a scratch!! Bloody heck this season is something else. Interesting to see the people glowing about Purdy seem have taken a step back. That's football though for ya. This season can go straight to the can!
QBs that I put in my top 7 like Purdy and Stroud didn't play as well this year but they both had injuries to key weapons (especially Purdy and the niners) and horrendous pass blocking (especially Purdy). Purdy has at least progressed running, or running for his life, but whatever.
We will be back in the SB running next year. 10 all pro/pro bowl players won't miss over 50 combined games again (let's hope). Every team has injuries BUT people never mention the Quality of players injured. This is a huge problem most years for the niners.

Random aside from the current conversation, but the Lawrence slide injury is exactly why I don't mind Purdy doing his head/shoulder first sideways dive on his runs. Steve Young always said he didn't feet first slide because it exposed him to hits like Lawrence just got hurt on, and diving shoulder first gave him more body control to take hits. The league has tried to get those hits on feet first slides out of the game but there will always be defenders who can't react quick enough to a baseball slide and nail the crap out of you.

He's much better than Jimmy. That also doesn't mean he's on the same level as the elite level guys.
like I've said he's closer to Baker than he is Mahomes/allen. I would hope his contract reflects that

BA getting hurt set up the season to be bad. Clearly we don't have that X WR that can open up everything when he's not on the field.
Deebo stinks and Ricky is a ghost apparently. IMO he's more slot WR than outside WR in the NFL.
