like I've said he's closer to Baker than he is Mahomes/allen. I would hope his contract reflects that

go back to 2017 jimmy was pretty darn good. and if you look at jimmy he never really lost here, or had a down year. he was injured 2018 and 2020 and the team fell apart. but when healthy we were elite. this looks to be a losing season, and brock has played the whole year but 1 game. if you go back on baker i was laughed at for saying he's pretty good, which he is. he had a down period where he was a street FA.

Probably not. Dak has been seen as a top 10 QB for a while now.

100% agree
Brock way better than Lance.

Brock better than Garoppolo.

Brock can't pay him top QB money.

the most recent guy gets paid. that's why lawrence got the big bucks and jimmy back in his day.

yessir, that's the contradiction. jimmy was paid #1 in NFL at signing. so if brock is better than jimmy he should get #1 and by a mile

Jimmy was never that dude. He was the definition of a game manager and system QB…if his top read isn't there the play is most likely f**ked. No extending of plays, poor vision, and lack of downfield ability. We all argued it for years. Truth was he was never really that great of a QB. Is what it is. We had elite young talent and a monster defense. He just needed to do his part.

SF was so bad at QB for yrs, when Jimmy showed up and looked competent, we all thought he was the next Montana lol. 2017 is riddled with almost INTs and forcing balls.

Brock is much better than Jimmy, but again that doesn't mean he's some elite level QB that should be getting paid $250M. IMO he should be closer to what baker is making vs the top dogs.

Baker didn't get paid that.

Purdy might be a bit worse than Baker. It seems clear now that Purdy has problems playing in less than ideal conditions (i.e., rain, etc.). Not sure what it is but he just doesn't throw well or turns over the ball in wet games. That kind of limited QB is killer for a team that will pay him 60 plus million per season. Eating up that much cap space the QB expectations are much higher.

And that doesnt' even get into the last 5 or 7 games of the year where Purdy has clearly not thrown the ball well. Kyle says Purdy's healthy so what's going on?

Baker is better than Jimmy and he wasn't the highest paid QB in football.

end of the day his deal will have a f**k ton of fluff. I don't expect his cap hits to be on a avg of $50M per. Maybe something like Love's deal where he's only got one yr above $44M.

first off baker has cap hits that average 40m over next two seasons. so saying baker dollars isn't some huge discount. brock will get paid. he was never cut and a reclamation project like baker. he was in the mvp convo.

From a size/weight and hand size he's identical to Baker. Mayfield had a much stronger arm though. Folks like to think he's Drew 2.0, I just don't see that overall. Drew was laser accurate and he had some of the biggest hands in NFL history at QB. s**t does matter.

I can't see SF having him eat up that much cap space every yr. The initial contract will be crazy numbers, but the cap hits won't be ridiculous imo.

I mean he's not healthy, dude just missed a game and it's hard to take anything from that Bills game. He's never gonna be that big monster armed QB that can play anywhere at a high level. There's a reason he was the last pick in the draft. He does lack those tangible traits.

Based on play this year Purdy has played himself out of having any leverage to get a 60m plus contract. I hope he's in the Tua contract range or even less. I doubt he'll sign a Mayfield type contract at 32m per year. But, frankly, Purdy would be smart to sign a team friendly contract and make it up by selling Toyotas and tractors.

Assuming we can sign Purdy to a relatively friendly deal that even has some opt-outs, should we keep him and try to find a QB upgrade through the draft in the meantime OR build a juggernaut around him ala the Lions with Goff?
