Hoyer, Beathard, and Mullins were horrible NFL QB's. Because everyone likes to compare Kyle to Andy Reid, here's a look at who Andy Reid has had as his QB throughout his career:

1. Donovan MacNabb
2. Kevin Kolb
3. Michael Vick
4. Alex Smith
5. Patrick Mahomes

Compare that to Shanahan:

1. Jimmy G
2. Nick Mullens
3. CJ Beathard
4. Trey Lance
5. Brock Purdy
6. Hoyer

You know, sometimes having great timing is all you really need. Look at Harbaugh, he waits around in college until a team with a top 5 QB has a job opening then decides to return. Timing is everything.

what strikes me about this is reid picked the guys he picked and shanny picked the guys he picked. it's not just these guys fell into the lap. they were chosen by the HC.

It was reported 49'ers are going to let Purdy play out his final year in 2025 before making any decisions at this time.

They don't have to pay him next year and they really don't need to give him a long-term deal after that.

I like what the Ravens did with Lamar. Place the non-restrictive franchise tag on him, let him go out and find his market value and the team has the first right of refusal.

The team has gotten into a big habit of somehow feeling forced to pay these guys like Aiyuk and Trent and CMC instead of dictating their terms.

They tried to dictate their terms with BA and were 30 seconds from losing him to Pittsburgh.

The way a FO deals with player contracts goes a long way to determining where future FAs will land. Once a team gets a rep for being hard-nosed or chintzy with the money, FAs go away.

would have been beneficial if we did. i've long suggested that shanny has a track record at developing WRs, so we should develop em and flip em for prime picks.

I agree with you, but I think the idea we had a legitimate shot at going deep again this year made him relent with BA.
At this time maybe looking good with our future we paid and kept Ayiuk and still deciding on Purdy?

We kept a player we know is good.

Sure, but he also shredded his knee. You can't predict that, but it's a disaster. Hopefully he can return to the level of player he was.

He will

Once again Brock is not Jimmy G. We need to stop reminiscing about Jimmy. He wasn't as bad as some claim but he lived by YAC. He would be absolutely brutal in this 49ers offense with what's going on outside the QB position.

I am just pointing out that the offense was humming along very well with CMC and Jimmy. It is just an observation. And you dont think the offense as it stands now is "brutal" averaging 12 pts a game the past three? Lol.

Yes it's brutal...and it would be even worse with Jimmy.

It's just speculation that they might do that if he plays hardball and wants $55-$60 million. If he is willing to take $40 million then they probably sign him. A mere pitance.

with Jimmy now maybe. we saw what it was like with younger Jimmy. we had a good run.

Jimmy that year with CMC led the league in YAC per Completion with 7.0, 2nd closest was 6.6. He was 30th in Completed Air Yards per Completion with 4.9 and tied for 28th with 3.2.

Brock this year is 3rd in Completed Air Yards per Completion with 7.8(he was 2nd most of the season until these last few games and Jameis Winston jumped him) he's still 1st in Completed Air Yards per attempt with 5.1. He's tied for 25th in YAC with 4.9(and that's higher with the last few games)

He didn't have a whole year with CMC it was 5 full games where he had a 110 passer rating with 9 TDs and 1 INT completing 70% of his passes.

That's wonderful...those numbers don't change anything that I said.

In those 5 games he averaged the following
CAY/CMP(4) this would be dead last
CAY/PA(3.38) this would be 27th in the league
YAC/PA(6.46) this would be 2nd in the league

If I need to remind you THIS offense doesn't have a healthy CMC, it doesn't have a healthy BA, Deebo who can't get open or break the tackles he used to on short stuff. Hell we're not throwing much short stuff these days. Brendel is trash.

This is not a situation Jimmy is built for.
