Purdy is better than Jimmy but not by a lot, sorry but not sorry. That's not a hit on Purdy as I think Jimmy was a good sometimes great other times terrible QB. Thing is, guys like NY and JJJ give Brock every excuse in the book like injuries, which is 100% true, yet when Jimmy had a severe injury AND STILL WAS WINNING and these guys were angry and complained that he was faking it because he opened a bottle of water lol. Now it's 5-7 and they do not hold Purdy to the same terrible garbage arguments they used. If Jimmy was in Purdy's shoes this year he would be hated non-stop but they do not hold anyone to the same standards as they held the QB with the third best winning percentage in 49er history.

He had what 9 games as a HC on one of the worse rosters in football….brian Hoyer was our starting QB for for sake AND out of his 6 starts they lost by 3 or less in 5 of them.

Holy s**t what a bad take on multiple levels.

1. Donovan MacNabb
2. Kevin Kolb
3. Michael Vick
4. Alex Smith
5. Patrick Mahomes

Compare that to Shanahan:

1. Jimmy G
2. Nick Mullens
3. CJ Beathard
4. Trey Lance
5. Brock Purdy
6. Hoyer

You know, sometimes having great timing is all you really need. Look at Harbaugh, he waits around in college until a team with a top 5 QB has a job opening then decides to return. Timing is everything.

what strikes me about this is reid picked the guys he picked and shanny picked the guys he picked. it's not just these guys fell into the lap. they were chosen by the HC.

Reid also drafted Foles, aaron Murray, Kevin Hogan, AJ feeley, Andy Hall, Mike Kafka, etc etc

he also wanted Paxton Lynch but Denver moved ahead of him in the draft reportedly.

this is so bad this style of post. he wanted x, y, z? you blame reid for moves that he never made. and if you apply that across the board, ok, everyone knows kyle wanted kirk over guys like mahomes or brady or what have you. so apply that to both. i'll judge based on the moves they made, and reid has much better QB moves, and probably why he's had more success as HC. just using my reality goggles which see only the truth.

Based on the moves they made huh, what alternative did Kyle have?

Once again Brock is not Jimmy G. We need to stop reminiscing about Jimmy. He wasn't as bad as some claim but he lived by YAC. He would be absolutely brutal in this 49ers offense with what's going on outside the QB position.

Jimmy that year with CMC led the league in YAC per Completion with 7.0, 2nd closest was 6.6. He was 30th in Completed Air Yards per Completion with 4.9 and tied for 28th with 3.2.

Brock this year is 3rd in Completed Air Yards per Completion with 7.8(he was 2nd most of the season until these last few games and Jameis Winston jumped him) he's still 1st in Completed Air Yards per attempt with 5.1. He's tied for 25th in YAC with 4.9(and that's higher with the last few games)

He didn't have a whole year with CMC it was 5 full games where he had a 110 passer rating with 9 TDs and 1 INT completing 70% of his passes.

That's wonderful...those numbers don't change anything that I said.

In those 5 games he averaged the following
CAY/CMP(4) this would be dead last
CAY/PA(3.38) this would be 27th in the league
YAC/PA(6.46) this would be 2nd in the league

If I need to remind you THIS offense doesn't have a healthy CMC, it doesn't have a healthy BA, Deebo who can't get open or break the tackles he used to on short stuff. Hell we're not throwing much short stuff these days. Brendel is trash.

This is not a situation Jimmy is built for.

That's wonderful...those numbers don't change anything that I said.

you are your record. reid's QB record is much better. that's just reality, and it's why his team is so much more deadly than ours. the QB move and the DC hire are just next level in KC.

i just got done saying, i'll judge the reality, not the hypotheticals. the coulda, woulda, shoulda, is not great convo. but everyone knows the notable examples. i can say that kyle doesn't have a great QB track record. he didn't really mesh with jimmy, and he bungled the lance thing horribly. meanwhile, reid has probably the best qb of all time not named brady. mahomes is that good. so it's hard to sit here and say kyle is better when it comes to QB evaluation. and i don't think it's oh reid is just a big lucky doofus. no, he's a pretty darn good HOF coach, first ballot.

p.s. my question to you was asking about your hypotheticals lol

we can agree to disagree here. but for ppl who are maybe not 49er rose colored glasses fans, it's a no brainer. reid has done better at DC moves and QB moves. to the victor goes the spoils. now maybe that's an unfair comp, cuz reid is the top coach in our game and he's done the best. but someone else brought up the comp. i'm just chiming in on it with the reality. and i reject the oh reid got lucky. no he's just a good coach with a better eye for QBs. that's what the track record tells me. kyle's QB moves is one of his several red flags (lance).

I just gave you a list of QBs he drafted. You come off like Reid has never picked a bad QB, which is factually b******t….Reid stating he was gonna draft lynch id not for DEN, isn't any different than Kyle wanting Kirk…people talk about that s**t all the time. Andy wasn't even the guy pounding the table for Mahomes, it was their then assistant GM (now GM).

people love to paint pictures for what fits their narrative. Your goggles are full of s**t, might want to clean them off. Reality is using all the facts, not just the ones that fit your narrative

no i just come off like the sane person who admits the reality. i'm not gonna say floyd is better than TJ Watt, cuz i'm a 49er fan. same here. reid is doing the QB picking a lot better, and throw in DC hires while you are at it.

Remember, Muck and faithful were by far his biggest cheerleaders on the planet. Most Jimmy fans at the time now openly admitted they were wrong, but never those two. They will always see Jimmy as a 1st ballot HOFer if Kyle didn't hold him back lol
