1. Donovan MacNabb
2. Kevin Kolb
3. Michael Vick
4. Alex Smith
5. Patrick Mahomes

Compare that to Shanahan:

1. Jimmy G
2. Nick Mullens
3. CJ Beathard
4. Trey Lance
5. Brock Purdy
6. Hoyer

You know, sometimes having great timing is all you really need. Look at Harbaugh, he waits around in college until a team with a top 5 QB has a job opening then decides to return. Timing is everything.

1. Bust without Reid. His numbers fell off a cliff when played for none other than Kyle Shanahan after having among the best statistical seasons of his career the year before with Reid.

2. Obviously garbage. System collegiate QB and a bad pick.

3. Horrible accuracy. Had an MVP caliber year in 2010 thanks to Reid scheming things wide open for him. Nobody else could've gotten Michael Prick to even 57% completion.

4. Mediocre for 8 years in SF. Becomes a 3-time Pro Bowler with Reid. Returns to mediocrity in Washington.

5. Would be a bust on most other teams. Not a great QB despite the media propaganda. His numbers are flat-out lousy the last 2 seasons despite playing for the best play caller of this century.

Brock needs to find the open guy in the end zone.

That is his no 1 job.

And he isn't doing it.

There are no open guys in the red zone.

Red zone is about the play caller, not the QB. Kyle Shanahan is not a good red zone scheme guy. Andy Reid is a genius with that. That's the difference.

Blaming Kyle is not right. It's on the quarterback in those situations.

Matt Ryan was a red zone killer in Atlanta under Kyles schemes.

Brock Purdy needs to pick up his game when it comes to red zone passing.

No, no it's not. It's on the play caller.

Kurt Warner had a weak arm. Mike Martz schemed his TDs.

Steve Young had a weak arm. Mike Shanahan schemed his TDs.

There are a million ways to scheme easy TDs.

Patrick Mahomes threw nothing but shovels and screens in the redzone in 2022.

If your QB is having to thread needles in the red zone, you are not a good red zone play designer.
You have dug a hole for yourself.

All those other QBs you name are very effective in the red zone; Brock Purdy is not.

You need to face the real world!!!!

Brock Purdy's body of work shows he is NOT effective in the red zone.

Blaming others doesn't help you from the TRUTH!!!
Let's talk about Brock's contract.

1. Nobody has a 50 or 60 million cap figure. That's not how it works. Brock could make "60 million per year" and have cap figures in the 10 million range throughout his career.

2. The market always resets with each new free agent at a certain position. Brock's $60 million per year contract will look cheap when guys make $100 million per year.

3. Brock IS worth that, because healthy Brock is hands down the best QB in football. Brock in 2023 was mobile Drew Brees.

4. There is literally no point in signing any other players at any other positions long-term. Why? BECAUSE THEY ARE GOING TO GET INJURED.

Are they going to get injured? YES. Are they not going to get injured? NO. Are they not not going to get injured? YES. Are they not not not going to get injured? NO.

There are two types of 49ers players: Injured 49ers players, and 49ers players who are going to get injured.

Whenever you sign a player, you need to realize that that player you are signing is going to get injured. He's only going to play 10 games per year on average at most.

Yes, Brock will get injured as well, but Brock is the quarterback, and quarterback is by far the most important position on the team. You have to deal with the fact your QB is going to get injured a lot. The Bengals do.

On the other hand, there is no point in tying up cap to players who are going to get injured at other positions, other than kicker.

Running back? Mostly interchangeable position. CMC's rushing numbers aren't that much better than Jordan Mason's. And of course, CMC is injured. He has been injured repeatedly throughout his career. Running backs are never going to stay away from injuries when used a lot in this era.

Fullback? Juicecheck is overpaid. Just find a cheap specialist.

Wide receiver? Even seemingly durable Brandon Aiyuk just had an injury where he will likely never be anywhere near the same receiver. Screenbo is not only a horrible wide receiver, but gets injured all the time. Jauan Jennings gets banged up all the time despite not even catching that many balls in his career. Ricky Pearsall came to the team injured. Jacob Cowing has already had an injury.

Tight end? There's a reason George Kittle is nicknamed "Brittle."

Trent Williams gets a sprained ankle every year. Aaron Banks is injured again. Dominick Puni is playing with an injury.

Nick Bosa is injured again.

Even durable Fred Warner is injured.

Dre Greenlaw is coming off a big injury.

Hufanga is injured again.

This team can't even keep the kicker and punter healthy. The kicker gets injured every year. Robbie Gould got injured and now Jake Moody gets injured.

All non-QBs and non-kickers should be signed to 2 year deals, max.

Off-season plan:

Pay Brock whatever he wants.

Cut Screenbo and designate him June 1. This saves $17.5 million in cap space.

Juicecheck can retire if he wants.

Extend Brittle for 1 more season so that he's signed through 10 seasons.

Extend Jennings for 1 more season.

Let Banks walk.

Warner might need an extension just to free up cap space. You kind of have to keep him anyway since he's the team leaders.

Bring Greenlaw back on a cheap, short-term contract.

Draft should be focused on wide receivers who can actually get open.

Those other QBs throw easy completions that are schemed open for them. Brock doesn't get easy completions schemed open for him because Kyle is a bad red zone scheme guy.

Also, Matt Ryan only had 21 TDs his first year with Kyle.
not gonna quote that long of a post but #3 is bold. To bold. Even if Mahomes is overrated that's still some real homer take. And the draft should focus on building the lines not drafting more receivers. Really questioning your self appointed expert label

There is no metric by which Stat Paddy is even in contention for being the best QB in football. He's 32nd in air yards per attempt, 32nd in air yards per completion, and has mediocre numbers all around despite playing for the best play caller of the century. Tyreek Hill went to Miami and now Tua's numbers look like Stat Paddy's used to.

Stat Paddy gets carried by defense and special teams.

Okay so Purdy is better than Burrow? Allen? Lamar? Stroud? Daniels?

Your argument is illogical and wrong.

Brock is no good in the red zone

The "Stats" prove it.

Brock needs to improve to be qualified as a medium talented quarterback.
