QB Brock Purdy Thread

Love how some try to downplay other players, just to be defensive of our players/or their stereotypical preferences at these positions.

I love Brock.. but here is the stats of your QBs "who don't struggle with fundamentals/have shown to play within their systems and not freelance too much".... in comparison to your perceived "running" QB.

Ravens 33 - 49ers 19... embarrassment on national television Christmas night.

L. Jackson
23/35, 252 YDS, 2 TD

B. Purdy
18/32, 255 YDS, 4 INT

There's no question Lamar is a better player than Brock. Any argument otherwise only exists in 49ers fan circles.

I think Lamar is a more dangerous QB than Brock (attacking downfield, or taking it to the house with his legs).. but if they play each other again, Brock could easily outplay Lamar. You never know with regular season games. But I just feel there is no need to downplay other players abilities, accomplishments, legit threat....just because one does not like how these QBs play the position. Or in some cases, how they presume Lamar still plays the position.

Hell Jimmy G would be a considered a better QB than Lamar, for some with that mentality.....and we know about Jimmy G's play/double agent type play in the playoffs.

I never understood next man up highest pay. This is Brock's 2nd signing. He should be in the 30s with a short three contract. Then prove it and go after $60m plus. If he can't be thrilled with $33m after being last in draft, well don't know what to say. He has room to grow still.

Yeah I mean 60 should be the going rate for a proven elite QB and consistent producer. Brock had a couple great seasons but if you compare to the rest of upper echelon QBs, his production doesn't even come close.

Even Tua, in only 8 games this year on a bad team is outproducing him with 15 TD and only 4 INT.

Would another team be willing to pay a 24 year old QB with his resume more than $33 million? I would argue yes.

If NE agreed, would you give up a 1st for Maye? He looks like he will be good.

Otherwise, let Purdy play out his fourth year without a new deal (Unless he agrees to a Mayfield type deal vs 60 million).

Not a chance in hell would they entertain any offer for Maye that didn't result in them getting Mahomes in return.

Its an out of control market at most positions, with QB at the top. In my mind, only 3 QBs deserve a salary north of 50 million, let alone 60. Patrick Mahommes, Lamar Jackson, and Josh Allen. That's it. No other QB should even make 90% of what those guys make. But this is the market.

I think he should get more than that. He deserves more than Carr (37m) for sure.

But he shouldn't get more than Hurts/Lamar/Herbert IMO. 40-45m, with 5-10m with extra incentives to make him earn that 50-55.
Curious how Brock ends this season. I initially wanted to just tag him, because IMO he would not hold out. I wanted to see how he would play when we lost some of our playmakers, before giving him a huge long term deal. Because we are not going to be able to keep our playmakers forever. CMC is not going to be here forever.. and who knows if Christian will be the same next year...

BUT with CMC and Aiyuk out for the year, I think I'm ok with the rest of this season being a good indicator of how Brock might be in a few years after we lose 2 or more of our stars.

TRUTH IS
Not counting that stupid snow game that made no sense to play in...
Niners get absolutely BLOWN OUT without Purdy at the helm.

Love how you don't mention three of those INT's were tipped passes.

Lamar Jackson is fools gold, plays good during the season but doesn't do s**t in the playoffs.

This is why I don't like a lotof stas. Passer rating is one of them. You can have 2 QBs that each has a 40 yard TD pass. One was all air yards and thrown perfectly. The other was a behind the lines toss that the RB took to the hiuse. Which was the better throw? The same for INTs. One guy throws right into coverage or overthrows badly and the other has a ball that bounces of his receivers hands. Both look the same in the stats. They often don't tell the real story.
I'm looking forward to him getting back on track and having a big game today. These next 5 games are going to be very telling imo.
Once we him big bucks this team is in major trouble unless these dudes get there drafting together and at some point value the trenches again.
