Read the full post. He's already signed for next season. The goal is to buy another year to look without breaking the bank… especially before we can see him test the market.

Draft a QB or bring back Darnold. I'm sorry. I can't watch another season with check down Brock. That was a humiliating damning indictment on Purdy. Awful, absolutely awful performance by your 60M QB.

He's 2nd in the NFL in air yards per attempt and 1st in yards per attempt.

Trash

If anything he's not checking down/ taking the short underneath routes nearly enough.
tonight's performance was back up-esque. Second time in three weeks

Not offering an extension this offseason is screaming at Brock "We are 100% going to replace you ASAP". Better to just pull the bandaid off this offseason than do that. You draft/sign a guy and trade/cut Purdy, or you extend him with a significant pay raise. There's no real in-between. To do otherwise is just p***yfooting around.

yup. they'll pay him a big deal, and like most it will be backloaded with an out.

He's not playing on a final year. Moot point.
Pearsall was wide open in the flat on the overthrow to Jennings. Take that, and its 3rd and short. Dude trying to be an elite QB with extreme limitations

Disagree. He's not getting paid.

Ummmm… you posted with conviction but you did it mention any real consequence beyond us being perceived as "screaming"

I'm all for paying him...this entire season is a write-off so I'm not gonna freak out on what I've seen this year. I just realize that Purdy is a guy who needs a certain amount of help to succeed - major online help.

The $$$ that he gets? I'd like to hope he gets 'only' what mahomes gets nowadays...but that's probably not realistic.

Maybe at least the 'he reminds me of drew brees' and other nonsensical comparisons will stop....at least for a week or so.

Why can't he?

Because no good players do. He will hold out and we will fold.

Because it just isn't done with starting QBs. It's screaming to the world a vote of no confidence and that you are looking to replace him, and no one comes back from that perception death spiral.

The consequence is wasting a year on a QB you've already decided isn't good enough. Why waste that year? Just go get another guy and move on.
