Sign a quality backup/fringe starter not unlike Darnold this past year.

Yea I don't know what he thinks the endgame would be in that scenario.

Brock holds outs for the max time period and then plays 6-7 games and gets a top tier contract in FA? Lol… that s**t isn't happening.

Never makes it that far. We fold

You draft/sign a guy and trade/cut Purdy, or you extend him with a significant pay raise. There's no real in-between. To do otherwise is just p***yfooting around.

Ummmm… you posted with conviction but you did it mention any real consequence beyond us being perceived as "screaming"

The consequence is wasting a year on a QB you've already decided isn't good enough. Why waste that year? Just go get another guy and move on.

You're 100% correct. Either sign him or draft a QB and trade Purdy. Anything in between that is a waste of time.
If he demands much more than Kirk Cousins we should just sign Kirk Cousins.

We already have that in Dobbs and we don't even play him when Purdys out.

I'm not sure how you come to that conclusion if we're considering the draft. Sitting a rookie behind a cheap purdy on the last year of his deal is about as good as it gets

I would bet we sign him at this point. There's a lot of area between 'he gets whatever he wants' and move on.

We can sign him to a hefty 3 year extension with outs that isn't a top tier franchise QB type deal. I think you're fooling yourself if you think he has the kind of leverage to dictate more.

Because sitting a year and learning has proven a benefit 👍🏻

Not for a guy who has started 2.5 seasons already for the same team sitting him for a year. And what would Purdy sitting accomplish? You'd learn nothing about him sitting on the bench after he's already started 45 games.

Dobbs is a bottom barrel backup/QB3. He's not a fringe starter, lol. He signed for 1-2 million as an UFA.

My goodness man.

Agree to disagree. He wouldn't sign a 3 year deal.

I'm enamored with Dobbs' good games a last year. I know he certainly has to suck. But those couple games….

Best were getting when hitting the market for a half season starter.

How would you handle the situation if you were our FO?

Not in the NFL in 2025. Every rookie QB drafted to start now starts his rookie year. Even if a team plans to have him learn behind a vet (which Purdy wouldn't really be) they still end up starting within that year. See New England this year.

This is a recipe for Shanahan to go 2-15 and definitely get fired.

Because they've seen enough to decide if he's their guy. Purdy is not going to risk playing out the final year of his rookie contract without an extension. Why would he anyway? He's already far out played his draft position and pay. He's going to give the team another free year and look? No way.
