QB Brock Purdy Thread

One of Brock's great strengths is his scrambling ability and picking up first downs with his legs. He did it even attempt (once) to escape the pocket tonight in a slow low scoring grind it out game.

It cannot be understated how awful Purdy was tonight with the national spot line on him playing for 60M deal in a TNF game. He wilted.

This just makes that OT SB loss hurt more and more each day.
This thread is comedy tonight.

Brock is having a down year with half the team hurt, coming off of an MVP caliber season last year. And so many of you guys want to dump the best QB we have had since Steve Young? For what? Drafting a QB? Sam Darnold? Just laughable.

Yes, he had a s**t game tonight.

And with that said he's still 100 yards away from Patrick Mahomes.

38 mil was this years non exclusive tag, edited my post since the cap is going up, the average salary of QBs will rise some, so he will be around 40mil.

Ya, and we will renegotiate the following year based on his play then.

I don't think he's a 100% health wise and that's impacting his play, but part of a QBs salary is about them staying healthy.

I don't buy into this thing that he's been figured out. He's not a one year wonder. It's a mix of things, from his injury, injuries to his top receivers, OL, RBs, play calling at times. But if you want to make that 60 mil a year, gotta be able to overcome that as well to some degree.

I'm just saying we can't tag him for 2025. If we want to use the non exclusive franchise tag, we have a full season to get through first.

I like the idea in theory, how it fits our salary cap planning notwithstanding. But we would have to tell him we aren't extending him this offseason and he could hold out (though I doubt he would).

Welp...Kyle's track record on qbs continues. Purdy is now bad Jimmy G. Taking that sack was reminiscent of Jimmy taking that sack to end the nfc championship game the year the rams won. It's a shame

Yah, were you saying this s**t last week when Purdy threw for 320 yards!!!

How about we bring up the 94 total yards against the bills a week prior

Or the 159 yard performance against the Seahawks.

How about the 2022 NFCC appearance or the 2023 Super Bowl appearance?

Don't know if jcs was being serious but there is at the very least red flags when it comes to our qbs progression.

The team is injured and in a down year. It happens, I'm not sweating it. Brock Purdy will be fine, and a far better QB than Jimmy Garoppolo.

Have you seen darnolds weapons? You know, the best receiver in football?

Darnold isn't an ideal target at QB but obviously he's proven to be capable of playing winning football on a good team for a bargain price.

It's not out of the question that we end up wanting to upgrade at the position. It's better to have a cheaper bridge.

he won't be a bargain next year.

I'll speak for myself in saying that I don't want to dump him; but I also wouldn't sign him to anything near $60+ mil.

Totally agree. Mentioned it in a later post. He's just an example of what type of player could be found at a bargain in FA.

Is Jake Brendel still your Center?
Another thing that is a clue on Brock: Last year, when he set records for deep ball accuracy, all of his misses on the deep ball were OVERTHROWS. He pretty much never underthrew a deep ball all year.

This year, he has underthrown nearly every deep ball he has attempted.

Trevor Lawrence got 5 for $275M, and he hasn't been anywhere close to as good as Brock.

Look, I don't blame someone when they say Brock isn't worth $60m a year. But QBs get paid based not only on merit, but because of the time their contract is up also. Brock may give us a discount, but he's gonna get $50m+.

Very short memories. We led the league in scoring with him last year. It can be done again. Team needs to be more healthy mostly, and tweaks and addittions here and there, but we can get back there with Brock. Losing Aiyuk and Deebo's sudden decline really hurts too.
