We havent had a QB in the MVP conversation since a lot of posters on this board were still wetting their diapers. You dont get rid of that because of a down year that had him missing his WR1, WR2, RB1, and HOF LT for some/most/all of the season.
This all stems from this made up world where Jimmy was the same as Brock in 2022. Jimmy had a great game vs the Cards and a great half vs the Rams that skewed his stats. This offense was shut down by the Chargers and Saints, something that didn't happen at all in 2022 with Brock and only to KC and Baltimore in 2023. This year the offense has been off all season for whatever reason. Kyle needs to reevaluate and work on things for next year.

The problem is he's not gonna be $900K anymore. That team last yr was a juggernaut on offense full of talent…like most teams that have to pay their QB elite $ they will have to lose in other areas.
can he elevate a less talented team? I mean that's what he's been dealing with this yr and it's been pretty damn inconsistent.
also lack of talent around him doesn't change these type of throws

For whatever reason? We know the reasons. No CMC. No Aiyuk. Injuries to Williams. Deebo having an off year. They're down to their 4th string RB. How mny more reasons do you need.

Jimmy: 71% 9TD 1INT 110 QB rating in 5 games.
Brock: 68% 13TD 3INT 113 QB rating in 6 games.
He was pretty similar

the problem is a lot of these extend into next year. CMC didn't get right in the offseason, so his health will be a question into 2025. same with BA, as that injury you sometimes need a year to get your legs back. then deebo, who is just no longer an asset. same with juice. trent is what, 40? so with brock getting paid, we will need to draft well and get those kids on the field as impact players. that's on kyle to build a staff and make that happen. mcvay is doing it.

If quarterbacks always regress under Kyle, then maybe it's on Kyle. He clearly emphasizes different things after a while of working with a QB. Kyle seems like a grind to be coached by.

QBs haven't always regressed under Kyle. We have maybe two possible real examples of this in Jimmy G and Brock and I think the better point is he helped make both of them look a lot better than they are.
Jimmy G is really the only QB he's had for a real length of time.

But he wasn't. 6 of those 9 tds came in a game and a half. Brock was far more consistent and the offense was far more dynamic. Then it took off in 2023.

Easy to say but hard to do. The draft is always going to be a crapshoot. If they get 3 starters out of 7 picks that would be a great draft.. It's why I hate paying so much to a QB. Espeially a QB that's not a superstar. You can't keep everyone and paying tha much to a QB means someone is going to be gone. We saw Buckner, Armstead and D J Jones leave because the Niners couldn't afford to keep them. We've had RBs leave for more mney. O linemen like Tomlinson said goodbye.
They can play gamesand move salaries around but eventually you have to pay. It's a myth that they can keep everyone they want. I doubt the Chiefs wanted to lose Hill.

I think Brock was getting frustrated and started pressing.
What I think we will see on the all 22 this week, is that Brock did not even use the protection he had when he had it.
I hate this season, it seems wasted...but....this season should be valuable to Brock. Guys are dropping balls, run game is not working, weather is crap, ball is slipping out of his hand....and Brock got frustrated and put some questionable balls deep hoping to jump start the offense. With any luck Brock learns from all this. Brock has been a pretty cool customer, but when things go to crap....he has made some mistakes. Most bad games, get worse when he starts to really press and hte turn overs start to mount.

The decision making has been questionable a lot this season. He needs to learn from these mistakes. You can't be Brett Favre so don't try to be. Be Brock Purdy.

If QB's have regressed under Kyle, it's probably because Kyle put more on the QB's plate and he couldn't handle it. I don't know if that's the case for Purdy, but just going by eye, I'm seeing a lot less play action and a lot more pure drop backs. It makes sense that KS wanted to see how well Purdy could handle the next step in his career - to see if he could carry the load. Unfortunately, this was such a bad/off/strange year where anything that could go wrong, did so, that Purdy never had much of a chance to take the next step and evolve. I also would tend to lean on the notion that he may not be that guy anyways.

I think Kyle is a good coach. There's a lot of proof to back that up. Brock needs to play better if we want this team to go anywhere. Plain and simple.
