QB Brock Purdy Thread

I put very little faith in what they say publicly. It doesn't mean much, if anything. And I certainly recognize their feelings on players can change very quickly. We have ample evidence of this especially at the QB position.

It'd be insane to think that Brock is essentially bullet proof at this point.

your issue NY is you love shanny, well shanny loves brock. so that's the pairing moving forward.

He did love Brock. We have no idea what he currently thinks.

shanny and lynch are all in brock. this is shanny's starting QB for 3 years running now. they have done nothing other than say he's our guy. no threat to him on roster. and the last time they picked a non brock QB they complete botched it so hard it was the worst draft move in our history. so yeah, i think this is open and shut. brock is here long term they will be quick to do it is my opinion.

When was the last timeyou heard a HC say he didn't like his QB unless he intended to relase him or draft ome in the first round. Coaches don't rip their key players. That's left up to the fans and press.

it's in the moves. if they weren't in on brock, they would bring in a roster challenge. or bench him. they openly said when healthy, he is our QB1, and that's what happened. i think kyle saw darnold was looking good every day, and there was never any thought to playing him. they like brock more. you don't let sam walk, he's in the mvp convo, and then you let brock walk. i mean what are you doing at that point?

Purdy was an MVP candidate last year why would he bring in a challenger this year? I remember Darnold being called the most talented thrower ever for the 49ers. But again Purdy was a top 5 QB so he wasn't getting benched. We'll see what they do this offseason.

Exactly. We aren't bringing in a high quality QB2 when we feel we are set at the position. That feeling can easily change and has here through two other QBs (James G and Lance).

Give Brock a top D and a solid Oline and he is everything we need. He'll never be top 5 but we don't need that.
This season has been a disaster from top to bottom, if D was healthy all her we are right where we need to be probably 10-4.

Brock will be back and we will be right back in the playoff picture nest year. Mark my words.

Defense just gave up 12 points and the offense scored 0 TDs

several key drops took points off board. Oline play has been bottom of league, especially in the Middle where gut pressure comes from. Bad performance from Brock but also a bad performance from damn near everyone on O, hell even JJ had several drops.
Needs better protection. Pressure has led to some bad habits this season. That INT was a stupid pass.
SF already made their bed essentially. there is no QB on roster worth anything, other than brock. he is due for a contract. he will get it based on what he has done on the field. he's earned it, per the folks making that decision. now do they make any QB2 move? we shall see. the outs on the brock deal will be the big aspect of the deal.
I love Brock but I think there has to be give and take in this situation. We are all operating like we have the Information when we dont. In my thought process Brock knows he's physically limited and needs a roster so he isn't going to hamstring the team with a Dak type deal just because his agent says he deserves it.
I don't think he does a "hometown discount" thing however I think he's down to earth enough to know what he is and what he isnt. Look for a deal that puts him in the top ten yearly average wise.
If he goes the set the market route you make him play out the deal and draft or sign somebody else. Its that simple IMHO

Actually most rankings have the Oline ranked around the middle. One has them 12th. One has them 18th. The lowest I saw was 24th. In any case we all know they need to improve it especially with Trent starting to break down. He won't be easy to replace.

You can continue to repeat this ad nauseam and it may end up being correct, but you are doing the same thing the 'pro Lance' crowd did that you argued against. You are making the argument that the team's feelings about a player can't change within a year, when clearly they can. Pretending this year isn't happening isn't it.

Rare lack of situational awareness for him but we can't forget he's still a very young QB.

A lot depends on his agent but I agree that any player drafted last has t feel fortunate he's even playing. The fact that he landed with a ream like the Niners and got to play in a SB is icing on the cake. He's not a diva that was drafted in the first round and expects to be paid like it.
Drew Brees had a few 7-9 seasons..guess he isn't an elite QB. Yes, I went there lol. Also, he was 32 yrs old when he won it all. Purdy is 25, I think this month. Look at everything he has accomplished. But we know for certain, I guess, that he isn't elite, about as good as Baker, system qb, etc. He is still young and developing. Dude went to the Superbowl last year and 2 NFC Champ games in a row and I guess, that is now swept under the rug. Lol. Everyone loves Purdy when he wins..then wants to kick his ass to the curb after a loss. I mean, it's nuts. Lol. No patience or understanding.

I read that Brendell was ranked like 40 out of all centers and as you know there are only 32 starting centers.
