QB Brock Purdy Thread

How about Josh Allen, Herbert and Lamar? Kittle is top 15 in routes run, saying all he's doing is blocking is factually not true.

if the only way Brock can be great is with the space jam monstars around him, then he shouldn't be paid like an elite QB.

Between the scheme, playcalling, offensive players, and Purdy himself they've got to get that solved or we won't be winning a lombardy anytime soon.

This is a huge red flag. Huge.

is this the case last yr as well? I feel like we're only getting half the data on this for obvious narratives.

few QB's actually deserve the money they are paid. I agree, and Brock isn't elite, but he can be very good. I hope the 49ers front office is maverick enough to go outside of the box of paying the next man in line record money, and give Brock a fair contract for the good of the team and Brock, and I hope Purdy can see that he needs help to succeed.

Having a few extra millions might be fun, but if you make 60 million at QB, well then, now you have to play like a 60 Mill QB. And if you don't, every mistake you make is amplified. I'm sure Dak enjoys the money, but not the pressure. Brock seems smart enough to realize this, which is one reason why I don't think his bag will be close to Daks.
I think Brock's deal will be in the Hurts/Tua area with a team friendly structure and outs.

Hard to beat man coverage when your crappy o line can't give you 2 seconds before you're running for your life. Also not sure why we are running slow developing routes when our line can't pass pro and our receivers suck at getting separation.

I think we're blowing Brock Purdy's contract situation outta proportion. The team will pay him what they think he deserves and they will protect themselves from it. Not sure what being elite has anything to do with it, it's what the market says and whether or not they wanna pay him a little more or a little less than market price. And if they don't think that Purdy is living up to his contract they'll renegotiate or ask him to take a pay cut like Hargrave did.

But I just find it funny that when we were on our way to the Super Bowl, no one really questioned what he should be paid. But now that he's having a down year, people are making all kinds of silly statements on what Brock should get or shouldn't get.

The idea that players get paid market value is precisely the problem. The market is out of whack. Players getting overpaid doesn't make the game better and it can hamstring a team for years. The NFL needs to get back to paying players based on performance. If the league stops paying these crazy salaries what are the players going to do? Are they going to find a job like everyone else. Go sell crs or drive a truck. Maybe work in an office.

The public is partly responsible for ths because they've put athletes on a pedestal. They've shown they're willing to pay more and more for tickets even as they complain about the price of groceries. Hollywoodhad a similar problem with actors demanding too much to appear in a film. Now they're using fewer big name actors and films have gotten worse.

I'm not sure what their numbers will be after this game but their pass-blocking while not dominant isn't as bad as everyone is saying. Also kinda disagree it's all slow developing routes.

How about you let the market decide what he's worth….you think every team is gonna be lining up to pay him $250M? I don't…if he wants to be paid like Dak (which is a horrible deal) let him play out his rookie deal and then negotiate.

Of course no one was complaining about paying Brock $900K last yr lol. He had the best roster in football around him. Now him eating up that cap, it's not gonna be exactly like that.

FWIW I never said he should be paid whatever he wants last yr. He has a great yr, but consistency matters. What can you do when s**t isn't perfect. I'd be looking at a Mayfield type contract for him.

shanny will pay brock what he seeks he's not playing hardball and finding a new QB1 8 years into his build. last time shanny got aggressive on QB1 he burned 3 ones on 4 starts.

Prices are always gonna go up, but it doesn't mean a team can't protect themselves from a bad contract. The market is all teams and agents have to go off from, not going by the market prices would be bad for business and teams and players prices would be all over the place. And don't just blame market prices, player rankings also have a lot to do with it too. IMO

Yeah which is why they are decent. If we had a good center we are probably 8-6 easy imo.

I think it makes perfect sense to continue with Brock. I would easily give him a 2-5 year deal, but would understand going the shorter route. If he sucks it up they can move on. We have done that before. What they cant afford is missing massively on drafts and in the trenches like we have. I don think we are far off from a quick rebound and being competitive. Reload the trenches and fix the coaching.

I feel like you just read my first sentence because what you said is similar.

From everything I've heard and read about the teams the niners played this year is that they watched the Chiefs use man-man defense a huge percentage in the SB. This year those teams starting doing the same thing. Even teams without the talent to use a man to man defense switched. The only team that remained in their favorite Zone defense were the Bears. I believe Purdy's skill set, quick decision making, anticipation & accuracy is more suited for beating Zone defenses. I haven't looked at what teams did last year but I assume that if most of them switched from their preferred Zone to Man this year, that last year they were mostly in Zone. Deebo & JJ aren't Man beaters. I'm not sure if Pearsall can play the X, but he can't be much worse the JJ in that position.
