I thought this salary was just about right these days for a decent backup?

Reports indicate he expects to reset the market with his new deal. I'm not saying the team should do that… I don't think they should at all… but you have to find a way to get him to sign a lower deal or not hold out for the final year of his rookie deal. 3 years 75 million is a nonstarter.

$27.5 Million per year would be about 10% of next years projected cap. That would be about right for a top level QB but that's not what their getting now. They're getting 20-25% of the cap. Not sustainable over the long term. Sooner or later teams that over pay suffer the consequences. Look at the Cowboys. Now Jerry Jones has announced that things are going to be tight the next couple years.

The QB is ideally the most important player on the team but even the best is mediocre without a decent O line and some good receivers.
$75/3? I'd say there's a chance he's closer to 75 per year.

The two times Kyle got "aggressive" with QB1 they ended up being losers (Jimmy, Trey). Maybe Shanahan should take the back seat on this one. Clearly he's not the best talent evaluator when it comes to quarterbacks so if he goes to Lynch / Jed and tells them to pay the man what he wants there's a good chance he screws us again.

my personal opinion is Kyle's stint in SF is about to end. Either he does it himself after this season (goes on a major bender, decides to call it quits so he can enter rehab), OR he does it the hard way by sinking this team in 2025 with his idiotic decisions / game plans. In any case, don't want his stench on this team beyond that so if we end up having to keep Brock at max contract at 60m and he's not worth it, then no thanks. Pay him what he's worth. If he's playing hardball like idiots eg BA, TW then either make him finish his contract next year or trade him…

Put your bias aside and realize Kyle isn't going anywhere. Time to move off that silly debate. Talk about something else, maybe something that's realistic.

Also the moment Brock is paid it all but solidifies Kyle being here even longer. You're gonna have to deal with it.

If next year we don't make the playoffs, ain't no amount of excuses from you guys (injuries, refs, bad weather) that's gonna protect him. I suspect he'll be fired, or even better do us a favor and just pull a Campbell and leave….

you're just convinced that next year we'll be a juggernaut once again because magically the team will be 100% uninjured. That's just not going to be the case…
We weren't 100% healthy the last 3 years , so you are incorrect again

And that's been your excuse as to why we haven't won the Super Bowl. Can't keep using it forever.

I'll stick with my guess (and prayer) that this is the beginning of the end for him…

I wont argue that the market isnt dumb. But my guess is his agent will try to get as much as possible for him.

jimmy got 5 years $137m he was #1 in pay.. now that seems like dirt cheap lol
Since we are future tripping in regards to Purdy's deal, how about this possible outcome:

Kyle let's Purdy walk via free agency and then trades for his beloved Kirk Cousins? Would anyone see something like this being an option and if so what would Cousin's contract look like for our Cap minus the bonus?
