QB Brock Purdy Thread

There is literally no argument you can make based on the facts. He dinks and dunks, his numbers are terrible, and the Chiefs' offense is middle-of-the-road the last 2 seasons. You think throwing a shovel pass behind the back means he's amazeballs?

Brock Purdy isn't just better than Stat Paddy, he's in a completely different stratosphere. Even playing injured this year, he's been better than Stat Paddy, which should tell you something.

Also,

20 years ago, nobody would have taken Stat Paddy seriously as a QB. Texas Tech QBs were laughed at. Kliff Kingsbury put up 5,000 yards playing in that Air Raid system.

But the game has been dumbed down so much that clowns like this were actually looked at as possible QBs, since modern NFL offenses resemble the Air Raid.

Andy Reid, the best play caller of the century, smartly adapts his offense to make it easy for clowns like Stat Paddy.

Stat Paddy has absolutely nothing that stands out other than the fact that he has such terrible mechanics that he makes the easiest throws look more difficult, and brainwashed fans think that means he's better.

If you took Stat Paddy's brain and threw it at a drinking straw, it would look like a kernel of corn going down the storm drain. He doesn't read coverages. He has no footwork. He's a chubby, babyfaced douchebag who can barely fit his helmet on his head because of his ridiculous hair. He leads the NFL in interceptions overturned by penalty by a country mile.

No matter how badly he plays, the fans never take any notice. They slurped up all of the propaganda for the NFL's attempt to use modern political attitudes to increase sales. Enough of that, though, since that's banned on this forum.

He has middle-of-the-road accuracy. He's a clumsy runner who wouldn't be able to run much if you were still allowed to hit the QB. He doesn't throw a tight spiral and the reason his guys have always dropped so many balls is his lack of touch.

The dude's a joke. It's obvious to anybody who thinks for themselves.

There's a lot of truth to this. People are not ready for this conversation though lol His early seasons made a huge impression on fans, and obviously the SB wins. but looking back, he rather meh in 2019, 2020 and 2023 SBs. That's all I'm gonna say.

I have been watching football dating back to 1977. I also study it obsessively. You have no clue what you're talking about.

Are all your arguments based on delusional assumptions? I should pay more attention.

Agreed, Bay2Bay - there's definitely some truth here if you've really watched Mahomes & KC play over these past few seasons.

Not at all saying Purdy is better than Mahomes, despite what some QB metrics might show. Mahomes, while definitely a great QB, these past few seasons hasn't been some all-time great QB, in either the regular season or playoffs. We saw it firsthand in the most recent SB (the Niners helped him/the Chiefs out big time by basically gift-wrapping their first TD in the 3rd Qtr. from the TO on the punt return). Mahomes is part of and really benefits from an excellent overall team that plays very good complementary football. KC is a team that has made it a point to be very good in all three phases along with having an outstanding coaching staff for each phase where continuity has also been there over the years.

Been watching great QB play since the mid-70s. Guys like Montana & Brady really stand out for not only how consistently great they were over the years but how consistently clutch & great they were in the biggest games, the biggest moments.

Back to Purdy…have really liked what he's shown in his brief career so far (not even three complete seasons) as not only a playmaking QB that has proven he can help this team win, but especially win in pressure-filled games like the playoffs. He's also showing more & more his leadership qualities.

Hoping Purdy's new contract (when it happens) is a number that is some kind of combination reflecting his production (over only 2 1/2 year sample size) and something financially manageable for the team to continue building around.

I agree with a lot of this. I mentioned once (a couple years ago) in the NFL thread that Mahomes was one major knee injury away from becoming an avg quarterback, and the masses pretty much mocked me. Mahomes is not a true quarterback, but he has GREAT instincts. Unlike Willow in Seattle, who would run in circles like he was playing back yard football then chuck up throws that would get caught miraculously or he'd get a PI penalty in his favor, Mahomes knows how to play decoy and fool defenses into positions that can be considered less advantageous. Take example the run he had vs us a few weeks ago. Guy makes it look like he is running out of bounds. Our LB lets up and Mahomes takes off for a 30 yard run that essentially ends the game. Did the same thing again a couple weeks ago vs Carolina.

His instincts are great. His football skills not so much. Take away his mobility and make him a pocket passer and he becomes average really fast. Don't believe me ? Go watch the tapes when he played the Bucs in the SB, or Cincy in the AFCC game a few years ago. Guy was rendered handicap and he looked like dogs**t…
Let's be thankful he is better than cousins. Not even close better.

You really have to isolate the two Super Bowl games against SF and the one against Tampa to criticize Mahomes' postseason play. Two out of three of those games against dominant defenses. He was pretty much excellent in every other playoff game outside of the 1st matchup with the Bengals in the AFC championship.

Take last year for example. Did he have a great Super Bowl game outside of being gifted a short field and the clutch end of game drives? No. But this was a guy who also completed 70 percent+ of his passes for no turnovers on the road in Buffalo and Baltimore the weeks prior. Absolutely killed in those games against elite competition. Great coach/system to assist him, but little in the way of skill position help.

Made play after play against the league's best pass rush in the Super Bowl the year before. Multiple TDs. On a bad ankle. Entire run was great play.

This guy's cumulative postseason stats are absurd for those that care about numbers. 40+ TDs, less than 10 INTs, around an 8 ypa. Just dominant overall in the biggest games, against the best competition.

I'm with you on this. Never understood the Mahomes obsession but it was/is obvious that not many were able to have that discussion.

$50M-$60M is absolutely a hometown discount. And agreed a Baker type deal is disrespectful. Hopefully this is true that the Niners see it this way.

Seeing as how he has all of the leverage and could absolutely squeeze max money out of the Niners, yes. Anything under $60M average per year is a discount. If it's in the low to mid $50M's then Purdy is in Brady territory as far as signing for a discount.

I want us to resign Purdy but for no more than 35-40 a year. If it were me I'd let him walk if he demands more. He's not going to fair well in this league without Kyle scheming people open with that pea shooter.
