You said he was gonna be the man. You said 50 tds, 5,000 yards and a MVP. We all saw it, and yet again caught and instead of being a man and saying you were wrong, you deflect.

he didn't play like poop, he did decent imo. i blame more the WRs for getting clamped all year namely a certain '#1'. gotta get WRs who uncover or scheme them open shanny.

He hasn't played great that's for damn sure.

15th in comp %
14th in TDs
16th in TD %
13th highest INT %
15th in QB rating

The WRs are actually not getting "clamped down" if you watch the film. Brock is not seeing the field and trying to play hero ball.

yeah even your numbers don't say he sucks he's just mid tier. probably accurate. lets ask some questions. how come cowing and pearsall ain't ready to play? why aren't they 'coached up'? goodness knows we need WR help. deebo just had the worst game i maybe have ever seen.

Just like when you said Lance was gonna have 50 TDs, 5K yards and be MVP…right 😝
lol remember that..

Yeah he will deny it because he can't keep s**t real. I'm super close to muting him. Arguing about nothing over and over.

that was shanny's wildest dreams he thought he was getting mahomes or josh allen, didn't happen. i said we spent 3 ones on tim tebow in 2021, you flipped on me got all name calling and yet, it was accurate, as usual.

Patrick Mahomes on 2024 Chiefs:

In 14 games, 3348 yards, 22 TDs, 11 INTs, 6.7 yards per attempt (10.0 yards per completion), 91.0 rating.

Montana Mahomes

Games 2-8 of their careers. Left year 1 off both because they didn't start all the games that year.
Pretty similar, does this mean Purdy is WAY better, not even close better than Montana?

dude you'd argue about the sky being blue, just because…No one wants Brad Johnson as their franchise QB. Stop being annoying

brad johnson wasn't bad. he was a PB and SB champ. everyone wants Mahomes, go find him NY. i dare you, try to find him or Allen. you could spend 100 years you may or may not get him. CHI has been trying for 100 years. same with Cleveland and other teams. we tried and got lance who is not even fit to be a backup in this league. not realistic. i see teams all over in contention with Darnold, Baker, Goff, Hurts and others. i don't think ppl appreciate how rare mahomes is.

Derrick Carr and baker mayfield (among a f**k ton of other QBs) are better in every single stat that I posted than Brock this yr. I know you don't think much of those guys. Why should Brock make more than them? He shouldn't at this pt.

Pearsall is playing damn near all the snaps, da f**k you talking about? Brock never targets him and he's been open plenty…Massively underthrew him last week in a clean pocket. Horrible throw late in the game on an out route.

I don't know, why isn't a 4th rd rookie WR playing meaningful snaps? He's not gonna play over our 3 starters whether you think you should or shouldn't. Maybe he can't block…that's been a problem for a lot of those Deebo plays. He's got nowhere to go because no one is blocking like they have in the past.

People are claiming that he is holding the offense back. That he cant throw outside the numbers. That he cant throw a good deep ball. And I ask you this. How many of you were saying that last year? Dont answer. The answer is zero of you. Not a one. No, Brock doesnt have a rocket arm, but he had no problem throwing outside the numbers or deep last year. When he first took over from Jimmy, EVERYONE was excited because "we finally had a QB that could/would throw to all parts of the field."

You dont just forget how to throw downfield. You dont just forget how to throw outside the numbers. Just maybe, there are other factors as to why he hasnt had a great season? Could be:

-WR1 has been out for the season
-WR2 has been awful
-HOF LT has been hurt and the OL hasnt exactly been great even when he played
-OPOY has missed the entire season (which subsequently caused Kyle to go away from playaction)
-Shoulder injury (which I believe is still an issue)

Purdy is a damn good QB. Is he top 5? No. Is he top 10? I absolutely believe so. He is the best QB we have had since Steve Young. He is 24 years old. You dont just dump a QB like that because he had a mediocre season during a year that the whole team didnt perform close to expectations.

I mean he simply doesn't have the plus arm you want for your franchise guy. We can stop debating that…it's simply the truth. The bad weather games are a problem. That doesn't mean he can't be successful, we saw it last yr…you don't need a cannon to complete downfield passes.

I keep saying his special traits are processing and anticipation. That has to be his special skill set because he doesn't possess some of those other top end traits. That's fine there's been plenty of successful QBs that didn't have those elite tangible traits. For whatever reason he's taken a step back with the stuff he's been really good at. I also feel like his mechanics have gotten sloppy at time and lead to some bad balls.

No one should be saying let's dump him, but we can have an honest debate about him. I think it's more about how much do you pay him and how long to you ride it out with him (and don't have a legit backup in place). For me I would feel way more comfortable giving him a Baker type deal and going from there. IMO one really good year of football doesn't equal highest paid player in football.

Let's learn from our mistakes (Jimmy) when it comes to contracts and being able to move off or add someone that could help the team even more at QB down the road.

A few things:

1) You say he has taken a step back "for whatever reason." You dont think that any or all of the 5 things I listed could be that reason? I do. And I think all 5 of them are true (with the exception of my belief about his shoulder. Thats obviously unconfirmed).

2) We can have an honest debate about him, but I believe that most posters who are against paying him are the ones not being honest. They are claiming things that can be explained with context and ignoring 2022 and 2023.

3) I dont believe the Jimmy situation has relevance to this. Brock played at an elite level for 1.5 seasons, and Jimmy played 5 total games (not at an elite level) before we extended him.
I look at NFL staring QBs and generally put them in 5 groups. Again this is gemnerally speaking.

We have about 5 QBs in the top tier. We also have about 5 that are at the bottom. Guys that just aren't ever going to be good.

Then we have about 5 in the second tier who are good but either not quite eliite or they haven't had enough time to be completely evaluated. At the bottom you have about 5 guys that are either past their prime or like the 2nd tier haven't had enough time to show what they can do. Maybe they're stuck on a bad team or have a bad OC.

That leaves about 12 QBs in the mid tier. Some will get better and get into the 2nd tier. Maybe even the 1st tier. Others in this group willjust alwaysbe average . Never terrible but never really great.

I think Brock is probably at the top of this mid tier. Maybe at the the end of the 2nd tier. He's mostly good with flashes of being very good. The question is will he ever be able to rise into the top 5. I don't think so because of his physical limitations that make him overly dependant on the players a him. To make him the highest paid QB would be a mistake. Let him play out his contract and see how he does next year when hopefully they're healthier.

Oh so that's the goal…not bad lol. Geno smith is not bad and no one wants him as their FQB.

him tossing out Mahomes and his stats is such a disingenuous thing…which is my point and you clearly didn't read the other post and are making up some weird assumption.

Yeah teams are contending with decent QBs…why the f**k does SF have to go the Dallas route and massively overpay Brock?

I mean how can anyone ignore everything you said or what's seen on the field and come in here claiming "keeping it real" lol

I'm in the same boat. Last yr it was total praise for Brock and rightfully so. This year this team as a whole as been bad BUT he hasn't picked up the team at all…he's been part of the team playing poorly.

Objectively we shouldn't be done with him. He's are starter. I do think there's a discussion to be had with the film he's putting out there.

The team sucks. Deebo can't catch, Aiyuk is useless, Trent is fat and old, McCaffery is Mr Glass and his backup is out, the o-line is more terrible than ever at pass pro.

Purdy hasn't been elite but he has a ton of legit excuses.

this is what shanny and lynch are doing, spoiler alert

if you ask why, it's cuz they are all out of ideas. they tried to get mahomes, they got burnt in that draft. they aren't trying that again. they know brock has been underpaid, now he is due to be paid. this is the best we can do folks under shanny and lynch. and btw, i was telling you a year ago sam had game, you weren't exactly listening, but you see that now.

He will make more because he is a FQB and they get bigger contracts every year.

The 49ers need him badly. They can't draft the next Lance and suffer for years.

Also, Brock has better career averaged than Mayfield and Carr.
