It was a one of his most retarded plays I've seen from him. With the season on the line. You just can't do that. And then to come to The negotiation table and ask for top dollar.

lol no.
i've been wondering about his play since week two.. and it's just boggling

He had some good games this season. But overall, he's been shaky. I'm not gonna pretend he hasn't.
i'm not saying he sucked.. but for awhile now he has decided not to take the easier throws or just not seeing the open options. He did bail us out in some games, but that ran its course. I feel he made the offense harder on ourselves than it should have been.

But he played so well the last two years that i still believe in him

Or you could see it as a jump ball to a great jump ball guy who was disrupted in his route and made it look alot worse than it was. Brock throws to spots and expects his guy to get there, most the time they do but some times it just looks awefull. Can't ask him to stop doing the thing that makes him special.

It was a bad decision. Plain and simple. You don't throw jump balls at that point in the game. Especially when you are already in field goal range. I love Jennings but he's no Megatron. I don't expect him to out jump 2 or 3 guys. He pre-determined where he was going with the ball and it was a bad decision. If that's the Brock we're getting going forward, then I don't want it.

I agree he's been pressing for the majority of the season. More than usual. He was passing up easy checkdowns for bigger plays when it wasn't needed. Latest example his last INT. He needs to do some self reflection this off-season and study some Brady, Manning, Brees film and see even the greatest weren't afraid of checkdowns. Brady won SBs checking down.

part of me wonders if all the checkdowns merchant talk got to his head and he was out to prove haters wrong this season.

It's not like it hasn't happen with him already. Remember when Colin Cowherd was talking s**t for having his hat backwards because that's not how a CEO conducts himself yada yada. What did Brock do? He stopped doing it. So, that tells me he does listen to outside noise.

it's all repairable and he's going to have a lot of time to study (if he can block out the huge offseason circus that's coming)

Purdy, in 2023, led the NFL in . . . TD%, Yards/attempt. passer rating & MVP candidate. This year has struggled.

Are they really that far apart? Don't make the mistake the Dolphins did.

the lions paid goff, now what do we think of that 'mistake'? it's about what you put around your QB. goff is no magic QB, he just has a lot of talent around him.

i just don't see any world where you don't pay QB1, QB1 dollars. let us suppose we abandon purdy and sign some daniel jones for 1 year 10 mil. ok, if he stinks our team stinks. if he does well, ok, now we have to pay him. simply no getting around the fact that your QB1 will want QB1 dollars. you may get a rook or a reclamation project, but if those don't work, you are screwed. if those do work, you have to pay up.

Are you a Shanahan supporter? Don't you think he could find another QB to run his system? Purdy's good years came with an elite cast. Deebo, Aiyuk, CMC, T Williams, etc. Next year> Deebo is washed or gone, Aiyuk is out for the first 7-8 games and then still an unknown after surgery, CMC is 1 year shy of 30 with PCL & achilles issues and Williams, at this poiint, is average at best. Pay Purdy $60M and where is his elite ncast coming from?

shanny supporter, yes
can he find another QB, not really. prior to brock we invested 3 ones in lance. total train wreck. his QB track record is not great.

on the contract, understand even if it's high AAV, it starts pretty small. the cap hits don't start at 60m. just look around the league. for example, jordan love, he got paid, here are the cap hits:

20m
29m
36m

does that sound tough? or anything like 60m?

Lance was a Covid acquisition and shouldn't be used to support any argument

strange comment. can't tell the story of shana lynch at QB without mentioning lance. they knew he sat a year. they took him anyway. if they wanted to be prudent and stay away from a high risk guy they didn't get a great eval on due to covid, well they could have played their cards that way. they did not.

It's only a strange comment if you're ignorant of the Covid circumstances. It was a known crap shoot well before we made the decision.

which qb you think they should have taken? Mac jones or Justin fields? Brock would be our starter right now either way. It's always fun playing Monday morning QB, but let's not pretend we missed out on a home run by drafting lance.

Have a lot of fire Shanahan converters in that case. Cousins should retire.

Yeah you're not wrong. But just arguing just to debate not how I'd do things but just interesting thought. If one is not convinced Purdy is a guy who can elevate a squad like Burrow, Mahomes and Allen do you want to pay him 25% of your salary cap possibly losing valuable core players or would you prefer paying a veteran 15% of your cap who is familiar with the system and keeping a majority of the core of the team.

If you could bring Cousins in at a minimal contract with the idea that it would force Brock to not hold out, I'd be for that. I would not be for paying Cousins any amount of money and actually playing him.
