not aimed at either poster above, but as a group we contradict ourselves to make terrible arguments all too often. Hell, Jimmy > Lamar by our standards

I have no idea why he brought up Lamar.

he could just sit until week 1 and screw the season like some other individuals did this year

You attempt to force him to play. He obviously could hold out regardless of what the team does. I'd bet he wouldn't hold out if they signed a high level backup/bridge starter type if one were to be available.

Again, I'd say there's next to a zero chance the team would do this. There certainly isn't any real evidence they would at least.
Based on what Lawrence got, 55+ is the floor for Purdy. It's probably 58 minimum for Brock.

All we can do is pray that it's properly structured to help and protect us as best as possible.

we're pretty much screwed in this scenario.. but if Brock is brock the last two years.. it's all good
Move on from Purdy and sign Cousins.

The jags were committed to Lawrence even before the gave him a bag. #1 overall pick and supposedly "generational talent" that had glimpses of good play with a bunch of meh.

If teams could give up the same compensation and contract for Lawerence or Brock. I bet there would be more teams going the Lawrence route. Not saying that's right or wrong, that would be my assumption though.

Brock wasn't Brock this yr though. Him sitting out for Dak cash coming off this season isn't a great move on his part either.

like Smokey said there's been zero inclination that's a thing from either side.

Cousins throws to the side he looks first 90 percent of the time. He's toast.

Yeah because teams are stupid. Brock has been exponentially better than Lawrence has so far. Brock's bad stretch is fairly in line with Lawrence's typical play.

glad one year doesn't define one's career right

Say he holds out and is "forced" to play the season. plays the same as this year and never really turns out to be a great QB. He may not get that huge payday anymore, but he still will get a lot of cash (to you and I) as being a gap/back up QB.

This could be his only chance at a huge contract, why would he not hold out for the most he could get.

To me it's pretty obvious he's been injured for a while this year. After the 3rd game, I just starting seeing some noticeable drop in his velocity. A couple weeks later the game plan changed and we saw a lot less outside the number throws and much less deep passes.

Purdy didn't just forget how to throw the ball, there's something going on there that we probably won't find out till the season is over.

So my worry now isn't his ability at all, when healthy he plays at a very high level worthy of a big contract. Health is my concern when it comes to giving him a big contract.

He never had great velocity to begin with. Dude had been pushing the ball downfield all year. Nothing has changed imo. He has the 5th highest IAY ( intended air yard) in the league. Bro is pushing it ball downfield a lot.

If he's really that hurt then he shouldn't be playing in a lost season while getting ready to get paid.

His success % down field hasn't been good though. He's just not the same QB as last year from what I'm seeing. His velocity has dipped some, and he's the type of QB that can't afford that. He doesn't have the luxury of having an arm like Pat or Allen's, even if they have a bum shoulder their 80-90% arm strength is still better than most the league.

And like I said, it looks like he's been playing hurt for awhile now, so it's not like they were gonna shut him down week 6. Players play hurt all the times anyways. I also shouldn't have used the word *injured* in my OP, he's playing hurt. Difference between injured and hurt.

Yeah, I think it will be structured quite well. I don't see Brock wanting to set the market demanding every single dollar, like a Prescott type deal. He just doesn't seem like that kind of guy. I think we get some help for Brock and the team, I am looking forward to seeing what happens:).
Interesting Shanny puts Brock's INT more on JJ and the OL than Brock

I don't think it's a crazy idea that he will play out his final year without an extension. But I do see an extension being the more realistic option. This is the time to do it as well while he's having an off year, because his current performance isn't worth 60mil a year.

If we can do something around 45-50mil that would great, and there can be an opt out for both parties in 2-3 years, which helps Purdy as well to renegotiate a bigger contract if he goes back to his last years form.

If him and his agent are adamant on a contract that resets the QB market, then he plays out his final year and we go from there.

i'm not saying it's crazy. He's going to play extended or not extended.

The business side of me says he holds out until he get what he wants. If he doesn't, then he will just show up the last week of preseason practice and play week 1
