Interesting. I've been extremely hard on Purdy for his performance this year, and I think deservedly so because it's mainly been decision-making.

That said, this indicates, he wouldn't look as bad if our receivers weren't performing so awful. But Burrow and Darnold would look even better too.

I think Cowing should get more reps and I don't question his work ethic. If he's still not ready, or is ready and isn't getting time, both are on the position coach Hankerson. Curious if we see a change there.

Brock has 17 drops this yr according to pro-football reference.

For perspective, Rogers and Herbert have the most with 29.

lol Aiyuk

He had 4 of them….only had 2 all last season.
There were definitely some backbreaking drops this year.

Aiyuk dropped one vs Minnesota (after dropping a TD vs the Jets).
Aiyuk massive drop @ LAR
Ronnie Bell massive drop @ LAR
Aiyuk massive drop vs KC
Deebo massive drop vs LAR

I'm sure I am missing some.

Dude was pressing so hard at the beginning of the year. Hopefully next year he comes back more relaxed

I'm guess Brock's deal will be similar to love/tua even though both those guys got paid after having their best seasons. Brock's the opposite there….he shouldn't be getting a deal like that. Is what it is I guess. It's why you gonna win a SB when the QB is on his rookie deal because they get stupid money even when their not at that elite level.

are there a ton of rookie-deal QBs out there winning superbowls that I'm unaware of? How many in the superbowl era? What's the percentage?

a ton of ppl did this with jimmy also they said oh we need the QB on the rook contract. how exactly did that go?

we traded half the rook contract to dallas. and brock had a historic rook contract and we couldn't win on that. we came as close with jimmy, as we did with brock. i challenge anyone to dispute, this is all factual. reality is at some point you need to pay the QB. a revolving door of always on a rook contract, i don't see any team doing that.

in fairness, I wasn't asking rhetorically. Wilson, mahomes, rothlesburger and Brady are the only ones I can think of off the top of my head. Brady and mahomes are exceptions because they've won SBs later in their career as well. Roth and Wilson are the only QBs I can think of off the top of my head that won only on their rookie contract.

i don't think I agree with the premise

Before 2022 & Mahomes winning a SB (he ate up 17.2% of the teams cap that yr). There had only been one QB that won a SB since the salary cap started that was over 13% and it was Steve young in 94.

of course having a really good QB on a rookie deal is a huge bonus. s**t having Brock making $900K was one of the biggest advantages we could have asked for…that isn't gonna be a thing in the up coming years (most likely not in the 1st two).

Do I need to re-word the question or are you purposefully avoiding it? I didn't ask salary cap percentages

I should have worded it differently…not necessarily win on their rookie deal…but when that contract isn't eating up a certain amount of cap space.

there's a list of highest % of salary cap for SB winning QBs since the cap started

Not sure why NY said win, but it does help to have stronger team which will give you more chances to compete for a title when you have a good QB on a rookie contract

I understand what you're saying now and I agree. I feel that way about every position. Good point 👍🏻👍🏻

Read my next comment. I should have re-worded it to a certain % of cap space relative to winning it all…having a good QB on a rookie contract makes your team better thus improves your chances at winning a SB. That shouldn't be debatable.

well in fairness, we tried the rook contract for many years now. those results are in.
