Yup I'm tracking 👍🏻. I responded above

we traded half the rook contract to dallas. and brock had a historic rook contract and we couldn't win on that. we came as close with jimmy, as we did with brock. i challenge anyone to dispute, this is all factual. reality is at some point you need to pay the QB. a revolving door of always on a rook contract, i don't see any team doing that.

in fairness, I wasn't asking rhetorically. Wilson, mahomes, rothlesburger and Brady are the only ones I can think of off the top of my head. Brady and mahomes are exceptions because they've won SBs later in their career as well. Roth and Wilson are the only QBs I can think of off the top of my head that won only on their rookie contract.

i don't think I agree with the premise
Not sure why NY said win, but it does help to have stronger team which will give you more chances to compete for a title when you have a good QB on a rookie contract

You could add Flacco and Wentz to that list of winning a SB on a rookie deal…wentz was hurt but their backup was making nothing and Wentz was having a MVP yr before his injury.

now if we talk about making it to a SB. The list is even greater.

What I should have said is a QB that's only taking up a certain % of the total cap in a given yr….no one should be arguing it helps having a good QB on a rookie contract in regard to winning it all. BUT I'm sure you will try to argue about it

I'm guess Brock's deal will be similar to love/tua even though both those guys got paid after having their best seasons. Brock's the opposite there….he shouldn't be getting a deal like that. Is what it is I guess. It's why you gonna win a SB when the QB is on his rookie deal because they get stupid money even when their not at that elite level.

are there a ton of rookie-deal QBs out there winning superbowls that I'm unaware of? How many in the superbowl era? What's the percentage?

People did it with Jimmy because he isnt a very good QB.

Mayfield wasn't the highest paid player. Carr wasn't the highest paid when he got a new contract in 2023. Geno smith didn't reset the market after throwing for 4,300 yards 30 TDs. You think Sam will be the highest paid QB after a great season?

I think everyone gets the deal….doesn't mean SF has to role with that thought process.

he was when he was here. miles better than lance and brock is kinda drifting into the convo of being a mid tier QB at a big contract. that seems to be where we are heading. i'd be interested how you would stack brock to lamar, herbert, mahomes, allen and these others. is he top tier or not, you tell me. reality is, many teams have these mid QBs like Goff, and you have to build a winner around that.

yup, because folks saw that he wasn't being propped up by the team not elevating it. I said it was time to move on when he has no real GTD cash left.

lol back to thinking Jimmy was anything more than a system QB that was propped up by Kyle and this team? God dude, get over it.

brock isn't top tier/elite, he's better than Jimmy that's for sure.

didn't you spend a full year arguing that 2017 jimmy is the same as brock?

The reality also is that those teams rarely actually win the Super Bowl and the few recent exceptions featured QBs who were playing great at the right time.

Most certain didn't. I didn't want them to give up on Lance do quickly. Try again

We ALL know how much you loved Jimmy, then when he left you s**t on him…NOW for some weird reason you're defending. You're a mess

i never bleeped on him. he did good things here. won a ton of games. we D up a 3rd and 15 and we are champs. had the 10 point lead late. this is all reality. everyone wants mahomes, hard to get that guy. you end up with lance, and no picks in round 1 for a while.

If jimmy could throw an accurate pass more than 10 yards they win. If Jimmy doesn't have the worst 4th QR performance for a QB in SB history, they win. That is reality.

they gave up on Lance because they were a team that was in window mode. Brock offered stability and was cheap as s**t.
