The KC defense is simply built to destroy opposing offenses / QBs when it gets to the redzone. Stroud just looked completely outmatched there and had to settle for a FG. Chris Jones a huge part of the disruption. That seems familiar...

The talk about what teams would trade what QBs for what QBs is irrelevant. GMs frequently don't have a clue.

Nobody would have traded any pick whatsoever for Kurt Warner prior to 1999. The Rams left him unprotected for the Browns' expansion draft. Nobody would have traded much for Rich Gannon before he went to the Raiders.

Steve Young didn't fetch a first when Walsh traded for him.

The 49ers had to throw in a 3rd rounder and David Whitmore to get a 1st out of the Chiefs for Joe Montana, and that was with Paul Hackett there as their offensive coordinator.

I don't know why people are still acting like this team has some kind of nucleus of players that you're worried about wasting if you either somehow pay Brock too much (on a backloaded contract, which means his cap figure won't increase that much initially) or don't "get a QB," whatever the idea of that means to fans.

In other seasons, it was at least understandable, even though this roster has always been overrated.

But now? After Aiyuk had an injury that will likely mean he's never the same player? When it's clear to almost everyone that Screenbo is an atrocious WR? When McCaffrey has a chronic injury that means he might not play that much longer? When Kittle, who has always been banged up, has played 8 seasons? When Trent Williams is nearing retirement and seems checked out of the game? When Juicecheck is 34 and it seems he might retire?

Also, when the defense has clearly declined?

Never mind the fact that modern football players are walking injuries and you can't build a team with more than a handful of players.

Also getting annoyed with this repeated misuse of the words, "more talented," to describe every QB in football other than Brock. Do you think when a QB has a stronger arm than another QB, that means he's "more talented?" Or is it just based on how high the player is drafted? Do you think Ryan Leaf, JaMarcus Russell, Kyle Boller, and Vinny Testaverde were more talented than Joe Montana and Tom Brady? Do you think that Jeff George was the most talented QB to ever come out at the time he was drafted? Do you think that Daniel Jones is not only way more talented than Brock Purdy, but among the most talented QBs in football?

I'm not saying talent doesn't matter. But there's a reason that guys like Montana and Brady were passed up for far lesser QB's because of "talent."

I would confidently agree with you 100% here, but I've seen too many videos of Purdy not hitting open receivers to make me have some doubt. He needs to improve this offseason and play better next year.
