he may have a hard time getting a QB1 job. lot of teams have a QB already, and poor teams draft their FQB. the 49ers have leverage here if they want to exercise it. i think both can win. brock can get a large bump and the deal can be team friendly. anything else is probably a non starter.

My point is who cares what the league thinks? The gms in the market for Purdy would be guys that haven't found a qb to begin with. You think their opinion is a good reflection of his value?

you always want to know what the league thinks. if you are paying all this mega millions and no one else is willing, you are effectively bidding against yourself.

It's a part of the "market". The market that everyone keeps saying is $55+mil because that's what Lawrence etc.. got. If the GMs in the market doesn't value Purdy in that way; why should we? Who are we competing with to hand out that type of contract?

More to it that just the GM's value Purdy at that price. The NFL players union will have some sway in what Brock will be asking for, if he settles for a low dollar contract it could affect other QB's and their contract negotiations in the future. And that is a no no in the players union.

I honestly don't care. If they feel like he's their starter going forward you pay him that way. You don't slap your fqb in the face just because the league is full of dumbasses that miss on qb more than they hit

This is my thoughts also. If they want to pay that much let them.

it's an interesting negotiation here, cuz brock is long on moxie, but the market rewards talent. team would be wise to do a very team friendly deal and if brock doesn't like it he can shop around. i don't think he'll find anything better.

And you knew for a fact that GMs in the market valued Lawrence that way too? The QB "market" is similar contracts in recent years. That's how it works now, for better or for worse.

You have to go into this offseason negotiation with a threat to his job for leverage if you have any hope of stopping him from holding out. Or you have to be willing to potentially piss away a season playing hardball.

Great breakdown of the play. O line strikes again.
Yea guys like Kurt Warner love him, but let's let him go if these QBless gms don't think highly of him. Doesn't sound smart to me
here is a comp

QB1 - 69%, 4280 yds, 31 TD, 11 INT
QB2 - 67%, 4279 yds, 36 TD, 12 INT

Your thinking of the 49ers as an organization.

This is a lynch shanahan decision coming off a 6-11 season.

If my jobs on the line and it's not my money, how well do you think the answer goes down if I say well "Jimmy wasn't the guy, then we traded 3 firsts for Lance and he wasn't the guy, now this kid we've been developing for 3 years we don't think he's the guy either"

Shanahan barely has a .500 coaching record...

If your him do you even risk purdy holding out and having another losing season in a row or starting over again with a complete wildcard for QB?

There's no way they risk that. Purdys agent is going to eat them because they are in a bad spot and everyone knows it...

So risk it all by giving him whatever he wants after coming off a poor season where we all believe he needs better talent around him, buy have to allocate a f**k ton of cash to him instead?

His agent can try and do whatever he wants…tell him to go find a team that's gonna pay him Dak money and give us what we need…if not work on a fair deal or play on your rookie deal and prepare for brock's tiny hands to get tagged until the cows come home.
