There aren't really even any examples of it working out at least in the context we'd want it to.

Brady and Mahomes have won 7 of the last 10 SBs. There aren't a lot of examples of it working out period unless you have one of those 2

So let's massively overpay a QB that doesn't have those high end elite tangible traits and everyone is b***hing about him not having enough high end talent around him for him to be successful?

sounds like a great plan

maybe that's the silver lining, these games are not good and the value may be more club friendly.

He's been in the mvp convo with Brandon Aiyuk as a #1 receiver. I honestly think we should find him a better #1, but OL is the priority atm

Do you think there's middle ground here? I don't think anyone disagrees with your less-than-ground-breaking argument that QBs shouldn't account for more than ##% of the cap. I don't think you disagree with the obvious trend of serviceable QBs demanding top contracts. We all agree there are contracts to be had that are somewhere between the "Brock deserves $30mil" and "he deserves dak money fully guaranteed"

what the s**t are we even arguing about? He's not getting a fully guaranteed contract. He won't count for 50-60 (whatever his contract value is) against the cap.

there isn't an argument here. Is someone advocating for $60 million "against the cap"?

no. They aren't

he'll get top money, or close to it. It'll be a clever contract that doesn't f**k our roster. We can move past this portion of the argument…. It's an elementary level argument anyhow. He's not Deshawn, he's not cousins, he's not dak. He's not going to f**k this team.

and if he does insist on f**king this team, we'll move on.

That doesn't show anything because Jennings quickly goes offscreen. That's why I'll wait for the All 22 but it looked like Jennings had decent depth on the corner.
You can wait, but it's pretty easy to see that the coverage dropped back and was giving up whatever underneath. He had PTJ on the check down

And this is why we wait for the full view and not listen to some guy named Chase.

What did you wait for exactly? Someone to explain what happened, we already know that.

the issue is he didn't need to do that. He needs stop locking onto one guy and take what the defense gives you.

two games in a row he was going to Jennings no matter what

Wasn't it 1st and 10?

the point remains tho, if baker plays well with talent around him, and so does sam darnold, what's the value of brock? we can just plug in daniel jones and he'll play well if we have CMC, BA, kittle, kyle and trent and so forth. he has a bigger arm by quite a bit and is athletic. he may cost 10mil, and brock 200m. what am i missing here, you tell me. brock restricts a lot of what you can do, as he's not making all the nfl throws. we really let darnold walk he can absolutely rifle the ball and he's athletic to boot. never even gave him a shot.

Wouldn't we have to wait to see who wins the SB for this point to be valid? SB or bust, everyone else needs fired. Right?

ill mosey on over to the Shanahan thread to get the final ruling on this

also, make your claim. Which of those QBs you listed would you prefer to be a niner next year?

the more I read the more baffled I am. Didn't give darnold a shot? He was on our squad… what more of a shot do you want? Are you just posting random words to see what works?

Plug in Daniel Jones?

And no one was saying the bolded the first 1.5 years he was here.

I am seriously wondering what inspired me to remove you from the ignore list. Your posts havent gotten any better. SMFH.

Yeah it was just an awful post from first word to last. Just headscratching.

It's easiest to say "hey Brock looks like he may have regressed this year. I'm not sold on him demanding the top QB contract". And the rest of us would respond "oh word yeah I may have been feeling the same way… but you know how this business works"

and done. We can move on.

this is still a bad play from brock. just put the ball away and avoid the sack. it's a good escape but he doesn't finish the play.

You have to go into this offseason negotiation with a threat to his job for leverage if you have any hope of stopping him from holding out. Or you have to be willing to potentially piss away a season playing hardball.

After the BA fiasco, the FO is going to make certain this deal is done early on. The one thing they cannot afford is to get a reputation for playing hardball at every turn. That is a big turn-off for potential FAs. I don't believe they are at that point but it is something Lynch will watch closely.
