Now we're entering the stage of thinking someone hates someone because they don't think they should be paid Dak money. Get a grip.

Na there's years of evidence

Nothing but praise last yr. Get over yourself…I should have known you were incapable of having a legit conversation about Brock. I don't think he's as good as the elite level QBs. I don't think SF should pay him Dak money. I think he's a good QB and should get a raise with a fair deal.

You clearly think he's some elite level QB who should reset the market and then complain about the team not being a bunch of all-stars around him

I don't give a crap about Lance. Last I checked he's in Dallas.

Na I saw through your s**t last year too and knew you'd be here fighting against his payday. There's 1.5 good years and 1 okay year. You only want to acknowledge the one okay season (which you exaggerate how bad it's been) and say don't pay him. That's not how it works unless you're a hater

I said don't pay him Dak money and now you're coming off as a whiny girl trying to think everything is personal.

Not my fault you can't have a level headed convo. You've been muted

Well that's the point of it all. If there is another team then we can match it. If not; well, maybe the league isn't as high on Purdy as he or his agent might think.

My point is who cares what the league thinks? The gms in the market for Purdy would be guys that haven't found a qb to begin with. You think their opinion is a good reflection of his value?

It's a part of the "market". The market that everyone keeps saying is $55+mil because that's what Lawrence etc.. got. If the GMs in the market doesn't value Purdy in that way; why should we? Who are we competing with to hand out that type of contract?

And you knew for a fact that GMs in the market valued Lawrence that way too? The QB "market" is similar contracts in recent years. That's how it works now, for better or for worse.

No I don't know; which is why I said an option would be to find that out. Similar contracts is how it's been; and I'd bet that all those people who did them have second thoughts, where'd it get them aside from future cap hell?

I've already stated that in the end I think they pay him anyways; it's what this regime does, like you said, for better or worse

Did all those other teams have a big extension planned for in advance? Did they all have over $50M in capspace rolling over before they signed him? Did they all have a great cap specialist on payroll that is great at his job?

I'm not trying to come at you, but I just feel that people are ignoring a lot of things.

No worries brother; I don't get offended easily, this is a forum that is meant for exactly this. You and I are in lockstep on the majority of things.

I have no idea about your questions; but they all do not justify giving Brock "top of the market" money when he is not one of top of the market QBs, IMO, or just because Dak and company got it. This is where we simply disagree. I wouldn't do it (and I've already stated that they likely will) and you would.

Yeah it's just an agree to disagree thing for me. I got no problem with Brock getting paid and being our guy. I don't see how/why he should be getting that Dak cash.

I'm right there. I like Brock and got no problem with him being the guy going forward. Doesn't mean I have to think he's elite and should reset the market as well. Or just because that's what other teams did with their QBs; we absolutely do not need to follow that trend nor should we IMO.

For s**ts and giggles, I would love to see us do with Brock what the Ravens did with Lamar. Thats finding out true "market value."

I'm with both of you in terms of believing the team will get a deal done with him this offseason. There's no real evidence, yet, to suggest they would be thinking otherwise.

I wouldn't do it at all though. Not for lesser money either. I would do whatever it takes to get him to play that final year of his contract and have an insurance policy in place if he decides to hold out.
Pay him. Hope like hell for a deal that is friendly enough to retain some talent, but be prepared that it doesn't happen.

Good OL and decent weapons cost money.

I want to make it clear I don't hate Brock and I got no problem with him being the guy for a couple yrs. Investing $250M is a horrible idea and shouldn't be on the table at all.

How many NFL players sign a contract for $___M and see every penny of that. Can we please stop with the dramatics about paying him $250M? No matter what that number is, he will likely only see like half of that, and some of which will be part of a signing bonus.

I swear NY, I never expected to have these conversations with you. You seemed to have a better grasp on how the league works than what you have been demonstrating.

The problem is NY went ALL IN against Purdy when he took over, and really wanted Trey to be the starter. So this is his chance to talk badly about Purdy under the guise of "not wanting to overpay."

what i am thinking is you get Daniel Jones 1 year 10m on day 1 of FA, then you offer brock a team friendly deal with outs and minimal dead cap hit, and if he wants to think he's worth josh allen money you can tell him to go find it. go find a team that will pay you it.

This is never going to happen, nor should it. I cant believe you are advocating this.

Daniel Jones as the team's leverage is laughable.

I'm not advocating to sign Daniel Jones, but he wouldn't be the team's only leverage. They have leverage built in unless you think Brock can hold out the maximum amount of time, play the minimum amount of games, and still get a top tier deal in free agency in 2026 (pending we don't tag him).

Franchise tag is the worst possible option
