Because we lose him for half of 25, cause there's no chance he plays on a 900k contract more than the minimum, and he becomes a 40+ M salary cap hit day 1 of his tag. He'd be cheaper with a deal in place.

Yea, I'm not prioritizing cap flexibility for a year or two at the cost of a commitment (financially and other) over that same time period and beyond without seeing another year of Brock personally. That deal likely becomes a lot more favorable as well if we let him test the market under the non exclusive tag, especially after an extended holdout.

What exactly is it you think you're going to find out with one more season? If everyone is hurt, it'll be a top 10-15 season like this year. If we have guys healthy, he's a top 5 QB. He's played enough games to make a decision. So trade him or extend him. He's not playing for $950k again on the last year of his deal and risking injury for a team that isn't willing to commit long term.

QB franchise tag for 2025 is projected to be $42M which puts it at $46M or so for 2026. He's not signing for anything less than that per year.

The problem is NY went ALL IN against Purdy when he took over, and really wanted Trey to be the starter. So this is his chance to talk badly about Purdy under the guise of "not wanting to overpay."

You're talking lot NY is the only one against paying Purdy top money. He's far from alone on this. There are a few posters that, for some reason, like to make it personal against NY. So weird.

$42 million per year is fair but it should certainly have outs.

He's never at any point been a top 5 qb in the NFL. He had top 5 statistics in an exceptional situation which directly affect those statistics. I don't think he's been a top 10-15 QB either this season, though that's at least arguable.

I'm not paying a top 10-15 QB on principle. I accept that teams in the NFL do this anyway.

What I want to see in another season is how he responds to the regression in his play. He's currently trending the wrong direction.

NY held on the longest (and loudest) with the Purdy hate. But yes, many of the haters have come back in the thread to bash him after being silent for almost 2 years.

Yea there's the smart folk who think you absolutely need a Josh Allen to carry your scrubs to the promised land, even though he's never done it lol

Then there's guys like ny. Brock pisses ny off lol

Trade him for what tho??? He has no leverage here. If Lamar f**king Jackson couldn't get traded to anyone, why on earth do you think a team is gonna give up 2 1s for Purdy?

Lamar Jackson wasn't Lamar f**king Jackson at that point. He was a 1x MVP who s**t his pants every time he made the playoffs.

Even now, he is a 2x (possibly 3x) MVP who has played well in 1 out of 6 playoff games. If he plays like s**t again and the Ravens get bounced early, he might still not fetch two 1st round picks.

BTW, Purdy has had exponentially more playoff success in 1.5 seasons than Lamar has had in his whole career.

Ok I'll admit when I'm wrong. Letting him test the market is the worst possible option. Franchise tag is #2.

Jimmy G has more playoff success than Lamar as well.

How these arguments get made is beyond me. It is a team sport. You have all had easy examples of this within our own recent team experience.

Purdys playoff passing numbers do match up favorably to Lamar's. Higher rated and more yards. This includes a rain game without Deebo and the Eagles injury game

Can't say the same for Jimmy
