QB Brock Purdy Thread

I was never really a fan of Kaepernick because I did not like his passing. I'm not really a fan of Brock as he seems to be an average passer.

But I'm hoping if we can keep him at a low cost, we can build elite players around him so we can still win a Super Bowl with his game managing capabilities.

How you could be a fan of Jimmy and not Purdy is pretty amazing. Purdy is leaps and bounds a better passer than Jimmy (one read and panic/happy feet) G

long on moxie and short on arm talent. he's been throwing soft balls all season. it's a real problem.

Do you ever watch the receivers in All-22? If you tell me you do, then we should have a film session together.

Last, Greg Cosell said the 49ers lack receivers that can get open quickly. When they do get separation, it takes longer than it should. This forces Purdy to hold the ball longer than is ideal. He also noted they lack the speed that the better passing attacks have. (we all know that) The result is that Purdy has to layer passes into anticipation areas that require tough, not laser speed.

Cosell did not that if Purdy had an arm like Allen, (only Allen does) he could fit balls in for those late-developing routes. However, the answer is in quicker receivers, not just a QB with a Josh Allen-type arm.

I've been screaming this from the roof tops all season. The WR's and receiving threats that we have were all drafted for Jimmy to match Kyle's zone beating route combinations. We do not have (and have never had under Kyle) the type of WR's who can get open against man and/or in situations where we have to pass (coming from behind). We now have a QB that can do the latter, but are seriously lacking the weapons to go along with him.

FAR easier to find WR's/weapons that fit Purdy than it is to find a QB with arm talent like Josh Allen. Build the team around Purdy and his instincts, athleticism, anticipation, and accuracy.
Yup it can't be possibly Purdy, has to be everyone else!

We drafted guys for Jimmy.... lol

Trying to understand this chart. Does that mean Purdy's accuracy is about 51% when the receivers have a separation rate of what ?
Does that chart imply J Fields has the highest completion % when his receivers get the least amount of separation ? Not sure how to read that chart

You read accuracy vertically on the chart, so Justin Fields is higher than Brock, but not first (Goff is). Fields is on the left because separation is plotted horizontally, and he's at the bottom there.

Thanks. I was reading it the same. So, the chart is saying the Steelers, Titans & Bills receivers get the least separation while the Ravens, Saints & Bucs get the most. Then Goff, Tua & Maye are the most accurate with neutral receivers.
So does that mean the upper right quadrant is where you want your QB to be> better than average accuracy & better than average separation OR upper left quadrant where you get better accuracy with less separation? Just thinking out loud here, lol

I liked how Jimmy could zip the ball. And he could do it quick.

So let's sign D Carr, lol

I am literally saying that yes it's an option to move on from Purdy and keep looking for the next Josh Allen. But that it's infinitely easier to find WR's who fit with Purdy and his strengths.

Par for the course who blamed everyone but Jimmy. At least Furlow is consistent

I blamed Jimmy plenty, I was just honest about his pluses and minuses. And I also "saw the light" once Purdy played and unlocked Kyle's offense in ways Jimmy could not.

Jimmy was our QB when we drafted Aiyuk, Deebo, Kittle, etc. So yes, to suit Jimmy's strengths and cover for his weaknesses. We were trying to maximize the QB that we had, which is what teams do. This isn't some revelation lol.

Yep.

Except of course the QB has nothing to do with the amount of separation.

Right, but we root for the team. So the best possible result for our offense is to have our guy plotted as close to that top right corner as we can. It says our qb is accurate, and our wrs are getting separation.

The WRs are not getting separation. Which doesn't seem to matter for Jennings honestly.
Yet we draft more wrs who can't beat man coverage on the outside.
