What you fail to comprehend is I was a big Purdy fan. Thought he was going to be elite. Our qb for years to come. My view is in no way shaped by Lance. I defended Brock plenty but what I am seeing on game day, which is all that matters, is not worthy of 60m. No way.

Gameday is all that matters in your mind. That's not the only thing they base this on, and I don't think they are as quick as you are to say everything on gameday is Brock's fault

Never did I say everything that happens on game day is his fault but to say that game day performance is not what QBs are graded on is just wrong. Practice play means nothing if you don't do it on game day. Lets get serious.

You wouldn't think this way if you spent as much time with him as the team has. You wouldn't put the entire decision on 17 days out of the year playing with a team that's overmatched

I don't think it's hopeless with Brock. I want to see him with most of the weapons healthy again. That's why I say play him on his existing contract next year then you can decide. I just don't think it's smart to throw caution to the wind and extend now. It's not necessary.

Yeah lets let the 49ers force Brock to play on his final year something they would not do with BA. Yeah good luck with that. No way if I were Brock I would play that final year and risk getting hurt and getting zilch after I had already proven what I can do with most of my top players around an NFC title game then a Superbowl.

Purdy is a top 10 QB who still needs to develop. They don't need him to be elite, they need him to continue to get better and learn

The problem is that he is regressing.

Impossible not to with this team

Most all the starters are out and we will grade him like he is regressing. SMH

2024: $20.7M
2025: $29.7M
2026: $36.1M
2027: $42.4M
2028: $74.2M

Hard to argue Brock isn't worth as much as Jordan Love.

And I am willing to bet anyone who wants to get down any amount of money that Love restructures before 2028.
Anyone thinking Brock is gonna play next year on no contract extension is just simply high as a kite. The only other option is if he actually holds out or gets traded to a team willing to pay around 50+ mill apy. According to the general consensus of the rest of the league is not remotely close to worth paying that, so that's probably out too.

I don't know what most teams are willing to do other than what I hear from the talking heads. But would the 49ers be willing to forgo another run at the Superbowl next year by not getting something done with Brock? I mean most of the talent on this team is aging and Brock has chemistry with them, I don't think so. I think a deal gets done they have been down the road of drug out contract negotiations.

lets delay the contract negotations so that brock purdy goes into week 1 regular without a camp or practice reps

The contracts "force" them to.

They can hold out the entire year, but then that gives the team an extra contract year, so.....

....you can blame this kinda contract stuff on the NFLPA maybe. Not the 49ers.

We're the only team that's ever had injuries. Poor us.

Jordan Love had a great year after being a 1st round pick. That got him his extension.

Brock's situation is exactly the opposite. Why we keep bringing up 1st rd. picks like Lawrence and Love that maybe had tapped some of their potential for a year?

Why not more examples of 6th-7th rd. picks and the large extensions they got after coming off of a subpar year?

This would sure give much better context.

Yeah, for sure. The Niners would do the same if needed.

Why is it so difficult for you and others to comprehend that he isnt going to play for 900k next year?
