They suck at drafting, but they have a pretty good track record of knowing quickly when they messed up once they have a guy in the building(Joe Williams, Pettis, Sermon, Trey, Latu, etc)

This isn't Jimmy G where you make a decision after 5 games and then he immediately ghosts everybody. I trust them in this situation. They've spent 3 years with him

Definitely agree they have shown the ability to quickly correct. That's why when they inevitably sign Brock this offseason it will hopefully be with outs that allow them to correct as painlessly as possible should it become necessary.

There will be a way out of the contract if he doesn't perform, no doubt about it

A way out? Like the $60M+ dead cap hit in 2026 for Love. You can't give out huge contracts without losing somewhere to get out of them .
As far as building an elite team around Purdy, the FO hit on only 9 of 25 picks in rounds 1-3. My confidence isn't too high on them in the draft.

You don't have confidence in the Niners FO to draft, but you want to play hard ball with Purdy and likely have to replace him with someone from the draft?

WTF are you talking about ? Where did I say I want the niners to play hardball ? I said before paying him $60M , I'd like to see a bit more . You call that playing hardball? I hate posts that just make s**t up !

What else more do you need to see, he went to the NFCC his first season. In his second season as the full time starter he went to the Super Bowl. Everyone talking like it's certain he's gonna be paid $60 mil a year is jumping the gun a little bit and getting all worked up for nothing.

It's always the same thing from some Webzoners on here, some of you got all excited about Nick Bosa's contract negotiations. Then when the numbers actually came out people were like oh that's not so bad. It gets real silly around here some times.
I would play hardball with Brock and let us assess him for another year before committing to him. He has been regressing and it makes sense that we need more time to evaluate him.

Gee you don't think missing your top O-lineman, top WR, top RB along with the multiple injuries to O-lineman and RB's have anything to do with it right? Let's also add in that George Kittle missed three games this season.

I understand your point but we really don't really know for sure. And we do have him under contract for another year so it would make sense to have more time to assess him.
He is going to get paid. There's no other option. If they refuse to pay him he will hold out and that will end the 2025 season before it begins. There's no viable Plan B. Sam Darnold at 30+M / APY? And for how long? How much GTD? Kirk Cousins who looks like a shell of himself the last 6 weeks? A reclamation project like Zach Wilson or Mac Jones?

It will probably be $50-55M APY and around $170M GTD.

Keep in mind Trevor Lawrence got $200M GTD, Dak got $231M GTD, Hurts got 179M GTD, Goff got 170M GTD, Tua got 167M GTD

I don't think any of those guys are clearly better than Purdy despite a few having better seasons.

If you're not sure you wanna pay your QB after accomplishing what Purdy did. Then you're never gonna be sure about him and you might as well go get you another QB.

No way if I were Brock I would play that final year and risk getting hurt and getting zilch after I had already proven what I can do with most of my top players around an NFC title game then a Superbowl.

The contracts "force" them to.

They can hold out the entire year, but then that gives the team an extra contract year, so.....

....you can blame this kinda contract stuff on the NFLPA maybe. Not the 49ers.

I know they can I am saying it will not happen.

You talked about how he will not risk getting hurt. Can you please shed light on his other options outside of taking less money?
Another team may want to deal with him. No one knows what other teams will do no one. Just has no one knows what the 49ers will do for sure. But with the 49ers the chances are highly likely they will do a deal with Brock. I addressed the possibility of the 49ers signing other QB's if Brock were to hold out (which I don't see that happening) earlier in this post.

Another team showing interest in him is a 49ers option,...not a Brock option.

You mentioned the risk of getting not getting hurt. So I'd naturally like to know what his other option is...not what the 9ers options are.
Do with Brock what we did with Ayiuk. Find out if other teams are even interested and for how much. Bring in Cousins or Darnold as a backup plan if he holds out.

It's time we show Brock what a hardball actually is.

I strongly dispute that he has "crumbled" without his skill players. He has had an average, middle of the pack, season. Considering all he has been playing without, he absolutely should have crumbled. But there's not a single metric that says he's did.

Also, I'd love for you to elaborate on these "indefensible mental mistakes" he has made.

Dude he's missing more reads/not seeing the field as well, his footwork and processing has taken a step back, which has lead to inaccuracies.

Absolutely the players around him have helped lead to success and hurt him this year.

his TT shows he's not seeing the field properly

Folks are saying Brock just might need a better roster around him a little bit more than some of the other highly paid guys in the league. Why is that so far fetched?

Brock's situation is exactly the opposite. Why we keep bringing up 1st rd. picks like Lawrence and Love that maybe had tapped some of their potential for a year?

Why not more examples of 6th-7th rd. picks and the large extensions they got after coming off of a subpar year?

This would sure give much better context.

One. One great year. And his great year was not as good as Brock's.

We bring up examples like Love and Lawrence because Purdy has been markedly better than both of them both individually and team wise. We don't need an example of a 6th or 7th round pick for context. You do simply because you are looking for a POV that can't be argued against. Why not compare him to his peers?

My point (putting it differently) is....being 1st round picks,...Jacksonville and Green Bay have already taken huge risks with their QBs.

Signing them up to lucrative deals after showing a little sustained progress is simply building further upon that belief. Heck,...this is even brought up at the bargaining table for players like Lawrence and Love: "Look at where you drafted me. You clearly thought other teams wanted me as well. How can me as a finished product NOT be worth this amount of money?"

This is not the case for our QB,....which is why the "Whataboutism" for these 2 cases make no sense.

You said he got to the SB,...got to the NFCCG. You didnt bring up any of these other positions when you claimed "Brock got there."

This is the one bargaining chip we can say he has. He will get his offer,...they will not refuse him to pay millions of dollars.

Please acknowledge the trap he can possibly walk into, however, by holding out. He could end up really messing up his career should the 9ers turn to someone like Cousins for a year.

Yes because, we are talking QB. If this were the George Kittle thread, I'd say he got there too. Did I say he got there by himself? Did Kirk Cousins get there by himself, oh wait he didn't get there and still got paid.
