QB Brock Purdy Thread

The OL didn't exactly help Brock out this year. Especially, with Trent out most of the year. Lot of blame to go around.

Dude he's missing more reads/not seeing the field as well, his footwork and processing has taken a step back, which has lead to inaccuracies.

Absolutely the players around him have helped lead to success and hurt him this year.

his TT shows he's not seeing the field properly

Folks are saying Brock just might need a better roster around him a little bit more than some of the other highly paid guys in the league. Why is that so far fetched?

He isn't as good as Mahomes. Does anyone disagree?

It's about TT and processing everything. Read what Warner said.

Come on now this o line has been horrible all season. He has been running all year. At this point even when he has time he has David Carr syndrome. I get it everyone is reluctant to pay mister irrelevant a big salary but he's the best QB the niners have had by the eye test since Young. A lot of people on here want someone else but have no answer for who. At some point you have to go home with who you brought to the dance.

See that's the thing, I've blamed Brock plenty during game day threads, I just don't dwell on it like some do in here. I also blame Shanahan for some of his play calling but lets face it injuries have played a big factor this season. Re-building the trenches next off season will be something to keep an eye on. I don't see Brendel starting next season and I don't see a rookie there either, my bet is Shanahan goes after another veteran.

I have no doubt next season the 49ers will be much better and back in the race to the Super Bowl. 49ers will have over $50 mil in cap space, good amount of draft picks on top of all that an easier schedule due to coming in last place (nah I don't know that lol). But IMO, Brock Purdy will be fine and so will his contract negotiations, which IMO is being blown way outta proportion.

It's not about blaming, it's recognizing deficiencies in his game. It's about the stuff he was elite at (processing and anticipation) not being up to his standards this yr.

not disagreeing that the state of the team this yr didn't play a big part in Brock's play.

We will see what they do. Hopefully they keep drafting like they did and invest in the trenches.

A few times this season when Brock has had time to throw in the pocket he has made WTF decisions and that's what I'm saying when blaming Brock. But I'd really like to stop blaming the OL, they really need to fix that. Also Aaron Banks was playing at a Pro Bowl level last season, not sure WTF happened to him this year? Is he playing with injuries, was Trent hiding his poor play? But save that for another thread, getting back to Brock and his off year....

His imaginary clock.

Trent was almost completely useless this year.

Give Brock at the very least a good O-line, something better than the 3rd OT starting at LT. And I bet he'd have a much better season even without CMC. Let's face it, Brendel and whatever else they put at LT besides Big Trent of course isn't gonna get this team far. That's all I'm asking is to help Brock see the field.

This is a great take. If we are ever going to see Brock's full potential, the team needs to build a wall around him. Pheonix has said it many times, get that interior middle beefed up and let see if he can cook like Drew Brees.

Loved watching Cam Ward with a completely new team this year. Didn't miss a step because this stuff is his strength,...damn near processes everything early it seems. Not sure it'll fully translate to the pros yet but he will be drafted very early and it wont be because of his physical gifts.

People that only want to talk about other positions are just trying their hardest to ignore the main current subject.

Yet, this is exactly what was said about Brock for his first 1.5 years as a pro. Do you honestly think he just forgot how to do this? Or just maybe were the circumstances around him what led to him having a down year?

Again, I never said Brock was elite or in the Mahomes tier. Some of Brocks strengths is processing, vision and anticipation. You dont just stop doing what made you great at age 24. Clearly there are reasons he wasnt as good at those things this year.

It was in an article. We can't come up with a new contract before the season is over.
Like with any Qb, he's only as good as his supporting cast.

Correct, but that's mainly because he's a rookie. IIRC after a rookie's third season he can sign an extension.
Brought CJ Stroud up a few times in this thread and crickets. Apparently people are asking the same question I am....

But we technically have Brock under contract for another year right?

LOL at bringing up Jimmy. Whatever your point is, you lost.

reality is with jimmy first off, we signed him big money and that was happening as soon as we did the trade. when he balled out in 2017 it was happening for sure. so we all got behind him as the deal was done right away and we always won with jimmy. that's just a reality. 2017 we won, 2019 we won, 2021 we won, 2022 when healthy we won, he was injured the other years. now you can say we won in spite of him or with the guys around him, whatever your argument may be. but he never started and had a losing season like this season.

That's because he bows out like a b***h with an ankle sprain when we have injuries like this. He would've said his shoulder hurts and taken the year off if he were still here. There were patriots players that saw this in him and called him out for it
