You can also see him doing a bunch of fundamentally wrong things from his footwork, to his drops, to his reads… mistakes Tom Brady generally isn't making.

This is getting silly guys. Film is the best way to evaluate how a QB is playing.

crickets for good reason. numbers are overrated. they would suggest that goff and darnold are better than mahomes and other false takes. how about calling houston and asking if they want brock for cj? how does that convo go?

What if they wanted to give us Nico Collins and Tank Dell for Deebo/Aiyuk? Brock's been better with less

this is where the convo goes off the rails. QB eval should be isolating what the QB can do and what the QB can't do. not saying well he would be better with an OL upgrade and a WR upgrade. any QB would be better with upgrades.

as an aside, if you follow the picture around the league, i see us moan about injury, and diggs is out for the year, dell was just in the hospital, and collins has missed time. nfl football has injuries that's reality folks.

So basically you are saying that QB evaluation should be completely hypothetical. Good thing you arent a GM.

what's hypothetical about the film?

Film doesnt show what a QB can do independent of other players.

I mean I doubt that (and I don't count running in a straight line, "more").

Strpud had worse numbers this year and worse numbers last year. Look what Love got and add inflation.

Why would I do that?

I agree that the drop in Brock's numbers this year could be seen as irrelevant to Shanalynch.

Have you seen that kids posts? His film analysis is "that boy throw hard"

course it does. we are in fundamental disagreement. only the film can tell you what really happened. the stat sheet may say the QB threw a TD, maybe it went off the DBs hands and into the endzone for a score. the film will show it. film will show footwork, how a QB spins it, accuracy, velo, athleticism and all this stuff that is inherent to the QB. i hardly even go off stats or advanced stats anymore. just watch the games or the breakdowns afterward. lot of great ex ball players who break it down on all 22.

Exactly

Well yes, it helps to have an idea of what you're looking at. That applies for everyone. It's nice that there are pros that do honest breakdowns. Just have to look for them.

They all have different opinions too. The best qb I know of doing film breakdown is Kurt Warner. He's not losing his mind about Brock's play on a terrible team in year 3

IMO - if we have everyone healthy, I truly believe Cousins or Darnold could achieve what Brock could next year. If I am right, this would affect how much we would offer Brock.

Yeah that wouldn't be a great way to negotiate

Dumbass harbs called a timeout and the play on 2nd down was basically kap walking into the endzone

full of knowing what i am looking at. why was i the guy saying darnold could play, and now he's playing? clear as day he can spin it, he can move, he can make all the throws, etc. what were you looking at? i know what i was looking at, i can't say what you were looking at.

Very true. The combo of Harbaugh and Kyle is an extreme choke job. Both coaches literally choked away Super Bowls and have to live with that for the rest of their lives. I'm just a fan.
