With Brock's below average play and his inability to score points, he keeps other teams in games and then you have late game defining plays against individual players rather than the focus being on Brock as the problem.

The perfect example of this was our game at home against Rams. Brock could only score 6 points at home and so then you had the Deebo drop as this huge game changing play. But if Brock was elite and scored points, that play like the Mason fumble against AZ are not so important.

It was the same in the Super Bowl. It was Brock's average play and inability to score points that kept the Chiefs in the game. Elite QB's would have put the Chiefs away.

We're not going to penalize Brock for 'not scoring enough' when he delivers a perfect ball on a could-be td that his wide receiver drops. And as far as the Chiefs' SB goes, turnovers is what kept the Chiefs in the game… one on an inexplicable CMC fumble and the other sheer bad luck on a punt return.

There are plenty of examples from this season to be critical of Brock's play. Why not use this season's Chiefs game?

Purdy hasn't finished the season twice in his 4 years.

He is injured now and if we were first seed in the playoffs this year, we might have had to go through the playoffs with Dobbs. We all remember that Philly playoff game, ingrained in all 49er supporters' minds.

His elbow and throwing arm must be of a huge concern if you are thinking of paying him.

Cousins at 40, is more physically reliable than Purdy at 25.

Why didn't Mahomes put the 9ers away then?

The point is not that you just agreed it would be fine, its that you have taken a hard stance for weeks against doing just that. Makes zero sense for you to all of a sudden have flipped (or maybe a lightbulb just came on?).

Look I value your opinion in here. We simple disagree on this subject. I'm sure he will get a ridiculous contract end of the day. Hopefully it all pans out.

i don't want to spoil the ending for you so i'll do this
Brock Purdy will get overpaid.

We all know that.

And the bleeding hearts on this site will come to his defence for the next 12 years every time it is obvious that he has a "pop gun" arm or throws multiple interceptions in the 4th quarter. Or when he is out injured at the end of the season which statically, he has been 50% of the time in his career.

We have already seen enough of a body of work from Brock Purdy to know what we are getting and how he will break our hearts for the next 10 years.
Amazing to me how everyone knows the future....

Just ludicrous. He's either missed or been knocked out of 3 games in 44* opportunities due to injury.

better how?

This play sums up Kirk's career for me.

Giants vs Vikings
31-24 game
check down on 4th down
4th & 8 at MIN 48(1:44 - 4th) (Shotgun) K.Cousins pass short right to T.Hockenson to NYG 49 for 3 yards (X.McKinney).

Brock Purdy has not ended 2 out of 4 seasons due to injury.

Obviously, that is one play.

Purdy and Cousins statistics for 2024/25 are almost identical with Purdy just slightly ahead.

I think Kirk has better skills (outside the run game) but Purdy is on a better team which pulls him up to a new level. Throw Brock on the Bears (even with the 49ers scheme) and he would sink.

Kirk will take off and run sometimes but not nearly enough. Kirk is more accurate and has more velocity on his balls.

At a rookie contract, Purdy is a better deal but if you are paying them the same money, then there isn't enough difference to differentiate.

Yes this year's Chiefs game is yet another example. Just poor QB play.

I've always thought Mahomes is overrated. But he is still better than Brock. Mahomes did not make pro bowl this year too.
