We all know that.

And the bleeding hearts on this site will come to his defence for the next 12 years every time it is obvious that he has a "pop gun" arm or throws multiple interceptions in the 4th quarter. Or when he is out injured at the end of the season which statically, he has been 50% of the time in his career.

We have already seen enough of a body of work from Brock Purdy to know what we are getting and how he will break our hearts for the next 10 years.

Just ludicrous. He's either missed or been knocked out of 3 games in 44* opportunities due to injury.

Brock Purdy has not ended 2 out of 4 seasons due to injury.
what?

Even though this season Purdy had an MRI to say he has no structural damage just bruising and nerve inflammation and restricted range of motion in his elbow, though no ligament damage was found, he has now missed the end of season twice in his four year career due to injuries to his throwing arm.

Brock hasn't even been in the league a full 3 seasons and he's only missed 1 game due to injury lol

This is the second time that Brock hasn't finished a year out.

lol thanks for the bott update
Not sure why everyone is so sure to commit one way or the other. He is another year away from having his book written. He is an incomplete story if talking $60m a year.

I like the guy a lot and hope he is the franchise stud but it seems insane to some are talking like he is the Super Bowl savior. There has not been enough time yet to figure that out and I'm not sure how the 9ers are going to handle it but it is starting to feel maybe they are boxed in with few other options. That's a crappy place to be.

reality is just he has limitations that limit what we can do as a team. QBs start playing, ok they have success, now you have highly paid coaches and players on D who figure out how to counter your QB. every QB has to go through that. teams are figuring us out. he's not really a threat to run in a designed sense, he's not a threat to take the top off or rip those outs. i was listening on the radio they said on his outs those passes are 'leaking oil'. that about describes it. so we become predictable.

saviors are hard to come by, but you do want guys who can help get you there. There's no doubt he can

Cousins is still a better QB than Purdy.

better how?

This play sums up Kirk's career for me.

Giants vs Vikings
31-24 game
check down on 4th down
4th & 8 at MIN 48(1:44 - 4th) (Shotgun) K.Cousins pass short right to T.Hockenson to NYG 49 for 3 yards (X.McKinney).

Obviously, that is one play.

Purdy and Cousins statistics for 2024/25 are almost identical with Purdy just slightly ahead.

I think Kirk has better skills (outside the run game) but Purdy is on a better team which pulls him up to a new level. Throw Brock on the Bears (even with the 49ers scheme) and he would sink.

Kirk will take off and run sometimes but not nearly enough. Kirk is more accurate and has more velocity on his balls.

At a rookie contract, Purdy is a better deal but if you are paying them the same money, then there isn't enough difference to differentiate.

There stats really aren't that close for '24.

Here's 3 evaluations that are commonly used:
Purdy vs Cousins 2024

Purdy PFF: 82.4 10th/71
Cousins PFF: 74.3 29th/71

Purdy ESPN QBR: 67.8 (7th)
Cousins ESPN QBR: 51.8 (23rd)

Purdy QB rating: 96.1(14th)
Cousin: QB rating: 88.6 (21st)

Purdy wins all 3 by a good amount.

Rushing yards and mobility is comically not even close
Kirk Cousins 23 carries. 0 yards. 6 Fumbles
Brock Purdy 66 carries 323 yards 2 fumbles

People keep using that argument of Brock is on a better team. Brock did not have a good team around him this year. His oline was pathetic. The receiver room was constantly thin. The running game was starting 3rd and 4th stringers.

If you put Brock on the Bears, he would be successful. And people would discredit him because he's throwing to two 1st round receivers, Keenen Allen who is a multiple 1000 yard receiver, and solid/good young TE in Kmet.

He earned a contract extension. Gruden explains it best. John and Kyle could act like dumbasses and stiff him, but they would get a lot of backlash for that. He deserves to be paid like the Tuas and Lawrence's

Get rid of the whole team then

Kyle and John have already said so.

i can see the 'he earned it' aspect and i think kyle and john will see it that way also. but then you gotta start playing games in 2025. that will decide the narrative from there. the stuff he's doing is cute when he's making 900k. not gonna be as cute when he's making 200m. so ppl naturally will be a lil more critical as we go forward. i think now when we go into 'what is this guy worth' season is time to be critical also.
