If we're gonna use one of the higher end QB contracts it would be Jordan Love's imo and that's a bit rich

But Purdy is better and contract values rise every year.
He'll get top tier money because that's how the market works.

you gotta focus on the points being made not speaking in hyperbole. Only you and this is known by many of us go to these extremes to defend your opinions. Nobody ever said we needed our receivers to get the most separation or our play caller to call a ton of screens just more than let's say maybe 5 to 10 teams? Not last or close to it?

I did not say our receivers need to get the best separation but as you may have missed because you obviously don't watch film or listen to anything but yourself, we were last in separation for so many weeks.

Can you agree with those points? Let's start small.

How does being ranked 17th equal him being 35th? PFF has his at the 17th overall C. I don't know what to tell ya man. I have no idea where the 35 number came from. His grades overall are the same this yr as last yr.

He was bad last yr and he's bad this yr. I'm not saying he's been good. They need better there for sure. Upgrade that OL.

are you being serious? You don't think Brock throws a screen or two a game lol? Deebo gets that s**t every game.

Who the hell is Allen/lamar/herbert/mahomes/love throwing the ball too? They don't have a s**t ton of pro-bowlers and are all playing well.

you're desperately trying to find reasons as to why Brock didn't play well this yr…we ALL agree the roster ain't what it was a year ago. Guess what it's not gonna be like that every yr, especially after he gets paid. At some point the QB elevates the talent around them. He himself didn't play well, watch the film. Late reads, inaccurate, poor mechanics, consistently trying to push the ball downfield instead of taking what the D gave him, floating balls etc etc.

brock HAS to play better if this team is gonna do anything in the future, period. We can always talk about the roster overall needing to be upgraded, there's only one QB that's making 2/3 times more than any player on the team.

Definitely Jones was over drafted by a lot. Brock is the pretty good QB. Jones is athletic in some ways. You could bring him in as a #2 and let him learn. Not sure how it would go. He's just so bad at so many essential QB things. I don't see it. But he's big and pretty athletic. So they were picking on all potential there.

Just because some team f**ked up doesn't mean SF should follow suit. There isn't a team in the league that would pay Brock that type of cash. Reports were LV was waiting to see if they could get Dak and he just came off a great season. That's not the case with Brock.

Also I thinks it's debatable if Brock is better than Dak…regardless he should have never been paid that cash and it's gone bite them in the ass.

I think Brock vs Jordan Love is the interesting debate.

And that might be the closest contract structure we are looking at too.

That's easy, Brock is much better in every way, except arm strength. Love only had one good half a season last year. Horrible in the playoffs, not good at all this year with great pass protection and very good weapons. Very good defense and running game. Enough said.

Brock deserves at least that contract

Also, on the subject of our C Brendel, he has been ranked 35th, it's been stated by Crocker, Chapman and many other sources. (Not PFF but another reputable metrics site just blanked out).

Either way we ALL know (except 1 poster who wants to make our qb look worse by denying Brendel alone has cost us games, points, drives and made Purdy run for his life). It's easy for any knowledgeable football fan to see how he is easily the worse C in the NFL. Definitely not even CLOSE to 17th

Brock and love had damn near the stats last season, no?

The packers have run the s**t out of the ball and love has missed multiple games this yr.

Very good weapons is a stretch.

I think the difference is love got paid after a great season, Brock is looking to get paid after a subpar one.

the way love's contract is setup, that makes sense for Brock's contract. He shouldn't be making more imo.

Ranked 35 on what? You gotta back that up with something man.

Not one single poster is saying Brendel is good. Not one. He was BAD last year. So blaming him for Brock's bad play this yr is an excuse.

guess what there is a f**k ton of bad starting centers in the league. Go look for yourself. You probably can't even name 10 starting centers. It's bad overall.

I'm all for getting better there. Always have been, sure it will help the offense…Trying to pretending it was everyone else and Brock played no part in his own poor play is crap and something a bias fan does. Let's be better.

Before 2021 all people wanted was a top 10 QB. Of course there was always different measures to what exactly a top 10 QB is. There were sooooo many letters being thrown around.

WAR

There was CPOE

There was EPA

There was Total QBR

There was also a mixture of all of that

All of this to say we finally got a top 10 QB in every metric and these are the conversations we're having?

he's not top 10 in the eye test. just my opinion. lot of these metrics are team metrics. if you don't believe me look at darnold now, and then look at darnold when he was on different teams.

We say this based off of some ill-timed interceptions the past few games. The 1st 2 of which 1 he was hit as he threw. Another Jennings held twice which made it appear worse than it was. No excuses this past game though.

The 1st half last game we ran the ball, the oline protected Brock and he played QB as good as anyone in the league. 2nd half we quit running. Quit blocking and the results were what they were.
