Effective today, members of the 2022 NFL Draft class are eligible to sign extensions with their team.

From the first pick in Jaguars DE Travon Walker to Mr. Irrelevant in 49ers QB Brock Purdy, we could see plenty of deals over the months ahead.

Multiple teams were willing to pay Brandon Aiyuk a near top of the market contract & the #49ers were still able to secure him on an extension at their terms.

Will there be multiple teams willing to pay Brock Purdy a near top of the market contract? When the answer is no, why…

we are paying him for past performance and being a good guy who saved shanny lynch. they will reward him as he rewarded them. i think shanny has a problem also where he thinks he can make it work with anyone. so most teams will say wow his arm is limited but kyle will say, challenge accepted.

Not going to argue that obviously but this isn't a thought about moving on from Purdy, it's just a plea that they don't bid against themselves to keep him. I can't find a single other destination that would put pressure on the situation (especially now that TEN has the #1 pick).

Hoping it's done within the next couple of months.

Anyway they have other issues to be concerned with. Cutting and resigning Hargrve. What to do with Deebo. Do they resign Greenlaw and Huf? Finding good free agents. I'm sure there are other contract issues I don't know about. Purdy is an important part of the team but his contract doesn't need to be addressed right away. He can't go anywhere until 2026.
