QB Brock Purdy Thread

There is nothing wrong with Cosell's analysis. Brock is exactly what he said he is, a high-level ball distributor that fits this system as long as he plays within that. He's not a top 5, unicorn guy that can do it all like Allen or Jackson. Most QB's in the NFL aren't, and that's okay.

Pretty much....but there is a contingent of people on this board who think otherwise....think that he is 'elite.'

He was elite in 2023 and top 10 without much help in 2024.

I like Purdy, but I'm not sure he's a $50 million a year player. The problem, as always, will reside with his agent, whose sole purpose in life is to make sure his client gets the most money possible and that he - the agent - gets the credit for it. Purdy could say, get me $35 million a year, guaranteed for five years, plus incentives and walk away with $140 Million plus, which ought to be enough money for anyone. But of course, it won't be. So much of this salary business is about ego. Well, if so and so is getting that then I deserve to get this. I don't see Aiyuk as a $28 million a year receiver, or whatever it is he's getting. And while that certainly worked out for him, I don't think the team will end up benefitting much from it. Time will tell though, I guess. He could surprise me. The other problem is that the market is what it is, and Brock has shown he's probably better than any other QB they've had under Shanahan. So, I imagine he'll get paid.

He's not a $50 mil player, but unfortunately, there are others within his NFL realm that have already been paid $50+. I expect a contract with that number and hope there is a lot of funny money involved with an out early in the deal.

Your definition of 'elite' and mine are different.

Arguably the best deep passer in the league in 2023.
Led the league in AYA
Led the league in passer rating
Led the league in QBR
Led the league in TD%

There is no argument that he wasn't elite in 2023.

There's no argument our offense wasn't elite. That's what these stats really indicate, with some exception for QBR, which at least attempts to isolate the QB.

That's not what the term means. Just because you want to redefine it, because you're new to football, doesn't make it mean something else.

Dude you're so close to being blocked. Can't handle the arrogant nonsense, especially from someone that's clearly doesn't know what they're talking about

My definition is based on facts. What is yours based on?

Same can be said for every QB.

And, he dominated QBR and Air Yards stats.

He was tied in QBR with Dak Prescott.

You seem to misinterpret air yards stats.

Sims saying offer him 25 to 30 million a year. LOL Brock won't accept that no way. There are QB's who haven't accomplished what Brock has already making more than that.

Your definition is based on stats at face value. I base it on the individual player who is more or less responsible for whatever play occurs - considering factors such as offensive/defensive/coaching talent around him.

Most people's definition of elite aligns with Woo's

Yeah it's a dumb narrative that media wants to keep pushing.

We're paying him 50+. He's out performed players making 50+. There's really no world where he looks at 30 and says "yup, sign me up".
