QB Brock Purdy Thread

Most peoples definition of elite, in this case, are laughable....and that tells me all I need to know. For instance...the same people who ride with 'stats at face value' are the same ones who tell us all that John Elway wasn't elite?

Do you know ANYONE who thinks that? I know a few....and they seemingly don't know much about football. But hey......that Greg Cosell guy....the guy I commented on originally? He's the one that said Josh Allen is as close to Elway in todays game as he's ever seen (and i agree.)

Elway was a statue compared to Allen.

All he indicated is he's not going to judge by stats at face value, which he believes Woo is doing.

I wasn't and his definition is completely subjective.

They are used to diminish the importance of the numbers! Which they 100 percent do, whether Brock is great or not.

When you can lead the league in YPA if you never had a completion past the line of scrimmage, it lets you know that the teammates are skewing those numbers. This is a good thing if you're a 49ers fan, lol.

Didn't he lead the league in AYA which he can't do throwinf passes behind the LOS all the time.

You didnt take apart anything in this thread.

Yeah.....I did. You just aren't capable of grasping some glaringly obvious aspects of quarterbacking in the NFL. Your John Elway analysis proved that.

Carry on. I look forward to another 'John Elway was overrated' claim from you to further prove my point.

I don't think so and here's why:

I also don't think Brock was elite in 2023 and it's not because he had great players around him elevating his numbers. Numbers are not the criteria. Depending on how you would define elite, our opinion would be shared in GM/FO surveys, player rankings, etc.

Where can I see the GM/FO surveys on QB rankings you reference here?

in the upside down, purdy is elite and elway isn't. he's overrated. in reality you need a six pack of homer goggles to be anywhere on that wavelength.

No one said Purdy is an elite QB. Everyone agrees he isnt. Most people just agree he had an elite season in 2023.

And of all people to call someone a homer. LMAO.

Yep and he was one of the top 4 QB MVP candidates.

He was #1 in AYA, but AYA isnt air yards per attempt. AYA is Adjusted Yards per attempt. What you are looking for is IAYA, which is intended air yards per attempt. He measured out pretty high in that category too, but he wasnt #1.

TY

Just going to conveniently leave out the second half of his sentence?

If I said "you arent very smart compared to Albert Einstein," that isnt me saying you arent smart.

For his time, Elway was very mobile and had a cannon for an arm. Elite QB that could carry a team far without a lot around him. Basically Josh Allen.

Comparatively, yes, according to stats and my eyes. Allen is very mobile and a big threat with his legs.

Josh Allen had more rushing yards in 6 seasons than John Elway had in 16 seasons.
