Purdy willget a nice contracxt but he's not in the same range as Stafford or Herbert. Both are bigger and faster with much stronger arms. That doesn't mean Brock isn't pretty good but he was passed over until the 7th round for a reason. His intangibles make up for some of his short comngs but he can't be something he isn't.
At some point, production and success have to matter. Purdy has been more successful than Herbert, in spite of the fact that you perceive him as bigger, faster and stronger than Brock.
I agree that Stafford is a shade below elite, and at his best, Purdy is not Stafford. But in his prime, Stafford signed the biggest deal in NFL history.
Herbert had a terrible HC until this year. He had abad game yesterday or was it a great game by the ZTexans D. He only had something like 2 INTs all season so he improved greqatly in that area.
Yes Purdy won more but he was on a team with a better HC and better weapons. I just looked at Purdy's stast and they loom good. Ubtil the 4th quartr and especially late in teh quarter. He has more INTs in the last quartr than in the previous 3 combined. It's not all on him but if you're going to give him credit and pay him like a great QB he needs to be able to lead comebacks late instead of throwing INTs.
English please!
and I bet if you looked, most QBs throw their highest number of INTs in the 4th quarter.
Sorry my keyboard isn't working well. I haven't got time to look up every QB but I do know that I see a lot of them lead game winning drives in the last 2 minutes. How many have we seen the last 2 teares for the 49ers? We've mostly seen low scoring by the offense and the tem trying to hang on to a lead.
Brock is okay for now since we aren't likely going to find one in the draft that's better. Unless they sign a free agent he's going to be the QB for a few seasons if he doesn't get hurt. Niner fans are going to learn to live with his limitations because he's never going to be much better than what he is now. He already understands the offense and he processes what he sees on the field pretty well. Those are things that some more talented QBs never lern. On the other hand he isn't going to get bigger or faster. His arm isn't going to become like Allen or Mahomes.
