When I say top tier I'm talking about top 5. If they want to pay Brock the 6th highest salary among QBs then I'm okay with that. There's just nothing that says he shoud be the highest paid. I tired of hearing market value. That's what they put on menus in fancy restaurants. Pay him what he's worth not what some other guy is getting. That's how housing prices ave gotten so inflated.

You should pull up their postseason numbers. Jimmy isn't Brock

"to be like 2 playoff teams" --- this is a lie,...or a "Wooism" as I call them.

I specifically referred to the Chargers and Packers and NO!! We have higher goals than trying to match the quality of the Packers or Chargers.

Look who is making it personal again. I just explained my post, why does thst trigger an emotional response and insult from you?

I didn't lie about anything, I explained my perspective. You edited out the previous responses to hide this.

I have no idea what your point is, if ypu have one.

My point is we dont want to be like the Chargers or the Packers. Looking at both squads as they are, they're not our template.

Thanks
What should the team do with Brock Purdy? I think they should sign him and it'll cost them about what these other teams paid plus inflation. As you wisely noted, the cap number will be much lower than the average.

The current top QB Cap hits for 2025:

  1. Dak Prescott (DAL) - $89.9 million
  2. Deshaun Watson (CLE) - $72.9 million
  3. Patrick Mahomes (KC) - $66.3 million
  4. Derek Carr (NO) - $51.5 million
  5. Matthew Stafford (LAR) - $49.7 million
  6. Lamar Jackson (BAL) - $43.5 million
  7. Jalen Hurts (PHI) - $42.0 million
  8. Aaron Rodgers (NYJ) - $37.5 million
  9. Trevor Lawrence (JAX) - $37.5 million
  10. Joe Burrow (CIN) - $35.3 million
  11. Kyler Murray (ARI) - $32.6 million
  12. Geno Smith (SEA) - $31.0 million
  13. Baker Mayfield (TB) - $30.0 million
  14. Kirk Cousins (ATL) - $27.5 million
  15. Jared Goff (DET) - $18.0 million

Ignoring later void years, and accounting for inflation,...I'm looking for Brock to sign something that'll net a $30M to $35M cap hit for most (if not all) of the non-voidable years.

I hadn't even thought about how it sounds.
Doesn't everyone know I am referring to 2023?

QB salaries go up every year.
He is worth whatever the market dictates.

It's not the reason, but this weekend has really helped Brock's agent make an even stronger case for Brock to get 55+

I think most of us (right?) think Brock was getting a high end deal anyways. He is a top 10 qb.

Yea he was already getting a contract in that range, but it's amazing how everyone's anointed QBs are the ones who officially slammed the casket shut on the hopes of Brock not getting paid. Their saviors blew it

Neither one helped the team win a SB trophy. Funny how so many on this forum want to fire Kyle because he can't win the big one but their okay with making a QB the highest paid even though he hasn't won a SB. When they lose it's Kyle's fault. When the win it's because of Purdy.

Truth is neither statement is true. Lot's of factors go into winning so heaping praise or blame on one person isn't realistic. Brock is going to get a huge pay increae. Even if it's $30 mil per year that's 30 times more than he now makes. I guess he was doing okay already because he was able to buy a new SUV for all his O linemen. These players and their agents need to quit worrying about who's getting paid more and start being concerned with winning. Money doesn't produce more wins. Often it's the oppposite when players leave to get paid somewhere else because the team can't afford them anymore.

Sb trophy is clearly not the bar to be a top paid qb though. Try again

This guy gets it. If you want to bury your head in the sand have at it. Or if it's too complex for you to understand that's fine too

I dont think he's getting a $55M/Yr average cap hit. Maybe you do? Let's see what happens.

You didn't think he'd be better than Trey Lance either. I knew you were wrong before, and I know you are wrong again

brock won wild card weekend by losing enough games and not qualifying for it. it's a derp take. imo.

did the 49ers win wc weekend? who are we rooting for exactly? brock? or the 49ers as a team? what a backwards view, to say disappointing year, and now we have to break the bank on QB to handicap ourselves further, all for this one guy. that's rooting for team brock. i say, let's get a more reasonable deal. brock can 'get his' and the team can get a good deal also. no way he has a down year, and now rakes in top of the nfl market. that should not happen.

Why? Isn't he supposed to be the guy. The one that leads you to the promised land. This garbage about market value is getting tired. Just because that's what is happening doesn't make it right. We've seen 2 teams (Dallas and Cleveland) get stuck with over paid QBs that hold them back. There may be others but thise are two that come to mind. Because teams only have one decdent QB on their roster, any mistake they make by over paying can ruin the franchise for 3 or 4 years. They get stuck with a guy that gets hurt a lot or just can't get it done.
