QB Brock Purdy Thread

But Kyle has always been about optics... for example he never likes the idea of the backup QB making more than the starting QB. Which is why he finally accepted Jimmy G back on the team if he took a contract paying him less than the 2nd year QB, Trey Lance.

So Kyle is gonna be all in for overpaying Brock on a long contract...instead of franchise tagging him (even though this would be the best option for the team). At least until Brock bounces back next season. Then it would be worth *overpaying* for him.

Really hard to make this argument when it's happened twice in the last 4 seasons, especially considering 2023. Our backup made considerably more money than our starter.

This seems moot anyway considering we can't franchise tag him this offseason, when the negotiation is taking place.

And those aren't just other QBs. Those are 50+ mil QBs. They're the ones setting the standard

Jimmy should be paid elite money currently because of how well he's played in the playoffs?

where Nick Foles massive contract? Lights out in the playoffs and won a SB.

how about Brock in the 4th QR this yr when tied or trailing? It was abysmal.

Brock should get paid, but using how a couple QBs got paid to prove why is dumb. So if Herbert and whomever else played great, does he get paid less?

Jimmy played well in the playoffs?

This is the big difference between Jimmy and Brock right here.

Both have four playoff wins and one Super Bowl appearance. But when you compare their playoff numbers side-by-side it's almost laughable. I loved Jimmy but he was AWFUL in the playoffs.

Brock has been better, but he also hasn't been consistent. I think he played really well in the '22 playoffs. He diced up a bad Seahawks defense, as expected, and then played very smart football against a good defense in the Cowboys who were playing very well in that game.

Last year was really uneven though. He was bad in the Packers game outside of the final drive and the TD play to Kittle, and he wasn't much better for the bulk of the game against Detroit, though he again was good in the clutch (mainly with his legs). He was solid in the Super Bowl.

I think this idea that this weekend helps Brock in actual negotiations is pretty silly. Arguments can be made both ways, and I just don't think the negotiation will look like the various spin arguments (on both sides) you see here.

Like I said, it's too complex for you. Maybe watch the video a few more times to see if you can understand

What's complex? That QBs are massively overpaid, epically good but not great QBs?

We all expect him to get paid and the total numbers will probably look large at first. I do expect the cap numbers and GTD cash to be that Dak/burrow money though…if so the roster is gonna take a step back and Brock is gonna have to elevate more than be dependent of this roster going forward.

Never meant anything to you before lol. So you're now switching up and saying Jimmy played well in the playoffs? Brock haters know no end lol

Are they sure it's not the 9ers are the losers of WildCard weekend because these other expensive QBs s**t the bed? And thus the 9ers have to follow these other teams who, apparently, have overpaid for their QBs?

So are some of these folks celebrating that Brock is gonna get paid? Because that is what it seems like... or celebrating the team they supposedly root for, are about to be in a s**tty situation.

I think signing Purdy long term puts the team in a solid position.

Totally get that and I think Brock is much better QB. I mean if Herbert played s**tty yet they won is that a win or loss for Brock? We're talking about one game vs play all yr. I don't see how of a playoff game for another player changes his pay scale.

No, he will get paid more than Herbert and Love because that's his market value based on what he has done and his potential.

I mean what did he do this yr? Both those dudes got into the playoffs. Market value is based off what the market is willing to pay you. Do you truly think there's a ton of teams willing to fork over $200M plus for Brock? I do not. I'm also assuming he gets paid here, but it will be a ton of fluff and easy outs for SF…because that's what it should be

Without 3 of his 4 best offensive teammates he led the 49ers to the 4th best total offense in the NFL after posting elite numbers in 2023.

Purdy is better than Love or Herbert.

Talk about deflecting. You're the one with the playoffs performance propaganda thing. I mean Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen played lights out in the playoffs, why should Brock be paid as much as them?

Please show me where I said I hate Brock? I've supported him plenty. I'm not gonna run around proclaiming him an elite level QB who deserves and elite level contract when he's not that.

How much do you think he will get overall?

You don't have to say you hate him. It's been clear for years
